Enough Is Enough

Someone left the cake out in the rain
And I don’t think that I can take it
’cause it took so long to bake it
And I’ll never have that recipe again
Oh, no!! — MacArthur Park

Once you get to be in the general neighborhood of 50, it’s natural to look back at your life and take stock. Sometimes people feel smug and accomplished. Others frantically scribble bucket lists, believing they’ll keel over any minute. Remember when you were a kid, and someone over 30 was just an ancient dinosaur? So square, man.

With age comes wisdom. For some, their compassion deepens. Others hone a tempered kind of discernment. Ever a patient man, I can remember when my Dad’s last button was finally pushed. He’d say, “Enough is enough.” These last few weeks I’ve reached that point that I want to shout it to the Heavens!

Our dithering President.

An ancient evil rears its ugly head.

This mess in Missouri. (There are just too many links.)

This mess in … (name your favorite crisis).

I look at my children, both returned to school this past week. The eldest, back on Long Island, starting her Doctorate. The least’un, preparing to graduate this December with his Bachelors. What does the future hold for them? Opportunity? Prosperity? Freedom to worship? Or burqas, death and destruction?

George-Washington-praying

I hope for the best. And I know that God is in control. There is nothing wrong with personal idealism, especially when striving for a better America. This country was founded on the prayers of great men. Prayer is the best way to fight this evil.

It’s something we’ve talked about a lot on this blog, but it bears repeating: prayer is a subversive means of freedom, at once consoling, engaging and efficacious throughout time and space. It has power, and that power holds, when everything else falls apart.

Indeed. Think of the power of a nation on its knees – in prayer, not in subjugation to some self-professed liberal thugocracy or caliphate du jour.

Dear Lord,
Once again men of Faith and of the West face the swords of the heretics. Once again, those who oppose Thy divine Order surround the remnant of Christian Civilization like wolves against prey. Once again, dear God, we turn our eyes to You and beg Thy gracious aid. If it be thy will, dear Lord, save us. If it be Thy will, raise up a great Leader to inspire Christian hearts in this country and in all the world. If it be Thy will, O Lord, send us a leader, a man to shore up our sagging spirits and rally us to the defense of our faith, our posterity, and our patrimony.

But enough is enough for now. I’m back and working up a head of steam. I may not have that recipe again, but I’m writing a new one, so watch out.

(Here’s the song: Forgive the disco version. It reminds me of high school days when we were all invincible.)

The Nile Runs Red

Calling all Bible scholars. Is the current meltdown in Egypt fulfillment of prophesy?

Besides viciously turning on themselves, the murderous Muslim horde Religion of Peace in Egypt have burned down scores of Christian churches and homes.

Remember this is the Long War of light against darkness.

The West’s war with Islam, a jihad begun and fought against us as a religious obligation, didn’t begin on September 11th, 2001, nor even in 1979, when Khomeini took over Iran. It’s been fought off and on for over 1,400 years, and now is in an active phase. The genius and determination of Leo III in desperate battle bought Western Europe the time it needed until it could stand on its own.

Read the whole thing. We need another clever leader, like Byzantine Emperor Leo III, now more than ever.

Prayers for Stephen Green & Family

Pray for rain and safety for Coloradians. Including fellow blogger Stephen Green (aka VodkaPundit) and his family, who live too close to the fire line.

Praying for Oklahoma

If you’ve been under a rock somewhere, or stuck in your bunker for days, Oklahoma continues to be ravaged by fierce storms.

I will have more links later (posting this from my phone).  Our last week of a broken A/C unit seems trivial compared to the suffering of these families.

The people of Oklahoma deserve our most urgent prayers.

He Is Risen.

What’s Up With the DAR?

(h/t The Daley Gator)

What’s up with the Daughters of the Revolution removing all references to ‘God’ and ‘Jesus Christ’ from their literature?

The DAR denies it all vigorously. But one blogger isn’t buying it, saying the DAR is sliding toward polytheism.

Who’s next? The Salvation Army?

Merry Christmas Y’all

2012 has been a year of prime bandwidth suckage at our little praxeum, with the one happy exception of a certain girl getting into grad school.

Regardless, today I wish you and yours a Very Merry Christmas. Our day was long, spent driving 6 hours in the driving rain, to Obi’s Sister’s Brother-in-Law’s house in the nether-reaches of southwest Georgia. There we celebrated our Savior’s birth with a groaning table of wonderful food and, when the rain broke, the shooting of shiny new armaments in the woods. Presents for the little ones, piles of paper in the floor and then surprise of surprise, a wedding.

Even when the future is dark, there is hope.

God bless us, every one.

Happy Thanksgiving

Best wishes to you and yours for a happy and blessed Thanksgiving.

Clear as Mud, and Other Thoughts on the New Reality

I suppose, like a great part of this nation, I’ve been grieving and haven’t realized it. There the usual signs and stages: lack of sleep, lack of appetite, malaise, disinterest, dull and lingering pain, anger, shock, despair.

The scriptures about ‘rejoicing in trials’ keep running through my mind…

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. “
(James 1:2)

“There is cause for rejoicing here. You may for a time have to suffer the distress of many trials; but this is so that your faith, which is more precious than the passing splendor of fire-tried gold, may by its genuineness lead to praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ appears.” (1 Peter. 1:6-7)

Along with the ones about ‘gird yourself’…

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. 19 Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.” (Ephesians 6:10-20)

Get that… “fearlessly?” Fearlessly, Fear–less–ly. Behavior that is the exact opposite of what the newly re-elected regime expects of the populace.

Don’t be fooled – this current Bread and Circus hides hideous facts that the White House DOES NOT want the American people to hear.

What we’re seeing with the Petraeus sexcapades is a classic magician’s misdirection. Two months past the attack on Benghazi, which resulted in the death of an American Ambassador and three others — an attack we are told the White House watched while ordering no response; an attack the mainstream media helpfully blacked-out, at first, then allowed to be spun — we are now being served The Prestige, where all of reality is being turned on its head, and the audience isn’t even sure what it’s seeing, so it simply becomes giddy, and content to be led.

If the nation is content to forget the image of Ambassador Chris Stevens’ naked body being hauled away by a crowd “taking him to the hospital where he later died”; if the nation is completely fine with a truly heinous story of government malfeasance, depraved indifference to human life, political calculation and incompetence being turned into bread and circuses for the mobs, well, then shame on the nation, for choosing to be entertained, once again, by the people who know that all the mob really wants is a show, and is quite pleased to give it to them.

In the meantime, Dear Leader is no longer constrained with the pretense of caring what his constituents want. He’s following the playbook – almost to the letter.

[…]Paula Broadwell’s father asserted “this is about something else entirely, and the truth will come out. There is a lot more that is going to come out. You wait and see. There’s a lot more here than meets the eye.”

That something else has to be bigger than Petraeus; common to all the mysteries of this most impenetrable of presidencies. News under the Obama administration has become coded to a degree unknown outside the annals of Soviet Russia and Mao’s China. In those regimes people talked about numbers, flowers and calendars to indirectly reference what could only be spoken of openly in whispers.

Nothing was what it seemed.

The “The Three-Anti (1951) and Five-Anti campaigns (1952)” were “ostensibly aimed to root out corruption, embezzlement, waste, though they also served to purge opposition to the new Communist government.”

The “Hundred Flowers” (1957) campaign encouraged critics to speak up — so that they could be identified by the State Security apparatus.

The “Destruction of the Four Olds” (1966) is not, as one might think, a scrappage program involving cars made by a division of General Motors but “call to burn and destroy cultural artifacts, Chinese literature, paintings, and religious symbols and temples. People in possession of these goods were punished. Intellectuals were targeted as personifications of the Four Olds, resulting in their persecution.”

The 6521 project is the most recent, occurring only in 2009. It was a “nationwide operation … to ensure ‘social stability’ by suppressing potential dissidents during anniversaries of political significance. The campaign’s name refers to the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the 50th anniversary of the 1959 Tibetan uprising, the 20th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square protests, and the 10th anniversary of the persecution of Falun Gong. ” And there you have it: 6521.

There were wheels within wheels; layers beneath layers; matryoshka dolls within matryoshka dolls.

These innocuous sounding Chinese names were in fact shadow plays aimed at sending a fascist message couched the most innocuous sounding terms. The sheer vagueness of the campaigns lent an edge of terror to them. Nobody knew what they were about and that imbued them with a sinister and crepuscular menace.

Democracies are creatures of the open day. The procedural mechanism of constitutional republic exists to ensure that all the cards are dealt above the table. That the lights always shine. The sign democracy is working is that everybody basically understands what is going now; when things are really about what they say they are about.

By contrast autocracies are thronged with secrets, secret passages, star-chambers and cabals. The characteristic of a conspiratorial political system is that nobody knows who’s next.

Secrets within secrets, all conveniently swept under the rug until after the election.

Wow. So if Broadwell was right — and obviously, she was in a position to know — then either (a) the Obama administration was secretly violating its own announced policy [remember, the President Obama EO in 2009 banning secret CIA prisons?? – admin], or (b) some in the CIA had gone “rogue,” and the deliberate obfuscation of what happened in Benghazi was a cover-up of this secret violation of the president’s executive order.

If so, then it bears a resemblance to the Iran-Contra scandal, and if it turns out that things went wrong in Benghazi because the folks in charge were too busy chasing poontang to do their actual jobs, then this story is a long way from being over.

Trouble is on the way. America, at least the America that wants to live as free citizens, needs to prepare. Educate yourself, especially on things you’d never thought you’d need to know. Create a safe haven/safety net, if you don’t already have one. Have a plan. Have multiple plans. Connect with other like-minded patriots. Get ready, for the future will be here before you know it.

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13)

See In This a Higher Plan

For those that have asked, GradSchoolGirl is fine. Her section of Long Island was not as damaged as other parts. Her power was back on Friday and classes resumed today. Many thanks for your encouraging, kind words and prayers for her safety.

We need to remember those less fortunate.

Amid the devastation, political gain seems to be the verse the campaign is stuck on. After this storm, Benghazi, the endless fund-raisers, even the most tone-deaf of Americans are seeing that a second term for Obama would be disastrous.

Benghazi, which the President’s Press Corps refuses to mention, wasn’t just a one-time failure of action and communication. It was the culmination of the many, many mistakes Obama made in Libya and Africa. It will take years to undo the damage, if that is even possible. Obama believes America will trust him, despite the multitude of lies that have crossed his lips the last four years.

This depressing election season will be over tomorrow. Or least we all hope and pray it will be.

“For we know that all things work together for good to them that love God.” –Rom. 8:28

Regardless of the outcome, we must remember Whose we are and see in all this a higher plan.

And Why Wouldn’t Jesus Love Baseball?

Dear Anchoress points to Bruce Reyes-Chow, who asks the ever important question, WWJP?

Baseball, of course. He explains why:

The Mascots // Angels, Padres and yeah, why do you think that the team fro, Tampa Bay are now known simple as The Devil Rays. – Jesus likes them.
The Team // Baseball is a unique team team sport in that there are so many working parts that make up the team: starting pitchers, pinch hitters, closers, power hitters, base-stealers, etc and each player has a unique skill set. I dare say the 25 player roster has more diversity player to player than football’s 52 player squad – Jesus likes communities that bring all their gifts together for the common good.
The Individual // In baseball, ones individual contributions and skills can both take over a game as well as be part of a team. Each person plays a particular role on the team, but if need be a player can carry a team for a game or two at a time pitching a shut-out, hitting a couple of home runs, making a game saving defensive play, etc. – While this can go wrong sometimes when a player tries to do too much, in the end Jesus liked Peter, he tried too much, but also carried the disciples through time of struggle.
The Utility Player // Not everyone can be great at all things, maybe not even great at one thing, but many can be really good at a great many things. Utility players are a crucial part of a team’s 162 game season: outfield, infield, pitcher, catcher, you name it . . . there are a few folks who can do it all. Bert “Campy” Campaneris was the first to play all nine position in one game. – Paul, all things to all people.
The Long Haul // Spring training followed by 162 games in a season allows a team to start with a clean slate each year while requiring them to think with the Big Picture in mind. – Hope and perseverance, hope and perseverance.
The Nuance // While some think Baseball is boring to watch on TV or in person, the nuances of the game, if open to seeing them, make every pitch and every play an exercise in imagining the possibilities and seeing a glimpse of grace. – Sorry literalists, but I think Jesus likes a nuanced approach to scripture, faith and sports.

Let me interrupt here to interject most of the most beautiful things I have ever seen was in the early 2000’s when during a blazing hot day game at The Ted, Atlanta Braves pitcher Tom Glavine pitched himself out of a no outs, bases loaded mess. Methodically, patiently, perfectly executed. Jesus would have approved, I think.

Somebody’s Poisoned the Waterhole

Who knew Ol’ Woody was a prophet of biblical proportions?

Matthew 10:14 comes to mind:

And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.

The pedicure I received last night, on the last day of May, was more than a little symbolic. Now, I head for the road and new place for living water.

The Longest Day of Many Long Days

Never Question Those with the Gift of Discernment

Jeremiah Wright: I “Made It Comfortable” For Obama to Accept Christianity Without Having to Renounce Islam (Video Report)

Everyone has at least one gift of the Spirit, whether they know it or not. Some can even sense the presence of evil, whether it’s the person next to you on the subway or when someone enters a room.

Before/during/after the election I said this man was unsuitable for the Presidency. After three years of disaster after disaster, do you believe me now?

Only now, at the end, do you understand. Your feeble skills are no match for the power of the dark side! You have paid the price for your lack of vision!

Test of Fire

Via Gateway Pundit – a compelling ad from Catholics Called to Witness.

After, if Obama will purposely target Catholics, how long will it be before the rest of Christianity is in his sights?
