Poor Dead Charlie, Plastic Nay-sayers and Springtime for Hitler

Charlie Norwood, whose obituary states

…a Republican from Georgia who tirelessly promoted a patients’ bill of rights and who sought stricter immigration policies…

[…] A colorful tobacco-chewing dentist first elected to public office during the 1994 GOP sweep of Congress, Rep. Norwood did not hesitate to stand up for his conservative principles, even if it meant criticizing his party. Last year, the plainspoken legislator called fellow Republicans who backed compromise immigration legislation “turncoats.”

Warning that the nation faces a “true invasion” of illegal immigrants, he called for putting nearly 40,000 troops on the U.S.-Mexico border. He co-wrote a provision to the recent Deficit Reduction Act that bars illegal aliens from getting Medicaid.

“After years of listening to ‘advocates’ whine about compassion for those who intentionally break our laws for financial gain, I’m glad to see us finally showing some compassion for our own poor and sick who abide by the law,” he said a year ago in a news release.

has been branded, post-humously no less, as “Most Partisian Congressman.” As The Anchoress so slyly notes

Hmmm. I can’t help thinking that the WaPo stuck poor old Charlie Norwood at the top spot to shield Mrs. Pelosi from bearing distinction of being the “#1, absolutely most 100% partisan member of congress” all by herself…and because if they hadn’t used Norwood, the “most partisan” Republican you’d see would come in at #174.

Dead guys are easy targets – they can’t come back to defend themselves from character smears. Even if the volley was intended to protect aging “beauty” queens; it is still tacky and tastleless. And typical. The Norwoods deserve an apology.

Speaking of plastic surgery, the rubber faced Democratic whiners are aghast at any good news on the War on Terror (see, I said it!) that slips through their media filters. The Dem Whip, James Clyburn, says that good news is “a problem for us.” Yeah, right. Good news for America, freedom and liberty = bad news for Democrats.

House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.) said Monday that a strongly positive report on progress on Iraq by Army Gen. David Petraeus likely would split Democrats in the House and impede his party’s efforts to press for a timetable to end the war.

Clyburn, in an interview with the washingtonpost.com video program PostTalk, said Democrats might be wise to wait for the Petraeus report, scheduled to be delivered in September, before charting next steps in their year-long struggle with President Bush over the direction of U.S. strategy.

Clyburn noted that Petraeus carries significant weight among the 47 members of the Blue Dog caucus in the House, a group of moderate to conservative Democrats. Without their support, he said, Democratic leaders would find it virtually impossible to pass legislation setting a timetable for withdrawal.

“I think there would be enough support in that group to want to stay the course and if the Republicans were to stay united as they have been, then it would be a problem for us,” Clyburn said. “We, by and large, would be wise to wait on the report.”

While wannabe socialites pretend to be socialists, possibly down the street from the new neighborhood madrassa, there’s a new musical a-brewing. Staying true to the Dem’s favorite musical, Springtime for Hitler; it has catchy tunes, clever lyrics. Be sure to watch for the dancing burqas. I wonder if they can make a Busby Berkeley-esque crescent moon – just like the dancing stormtroopers made a swastika. Opening Wednesday, in SCAWT-LAND!

“Don’t be stupid, be a smarty / Come and join the Nazi Party!”

Yeah, but will it play in Denmark? (Turn the sound, if at work.)
