Pi Day, v.2.0

Hmmm. Today is anniversary #2 for this little blog. Pi Day – how appropriate. No parades or anything planned…still jet-laggin’ from my trip.

Pi Pie

During this last year I’ve gotten to be better friends with what Fausta calls “FIHMY” (Friends I Haven’t Met Yet). I am still SO bummed I can’t make her party. Please, someone, go in my place and lift a toast to her! Many thanks to her, Siggy and especially The Anchoress for all their warm regards, prayers and linky-love over the last year.

Here’s the anniversary post from last year and the post that started it all.

And lift your fork for a piece of pie – and – another good year for yours truly.

Vegas, Baby

Well, I have returned relatively unscathed from my conference in Vegas. Vegas, Baby. I will write about the idiocy of TSA airport security later.

For the last 4 days…I had very little contact with the outside world….other than news blips here and there.

On Wednesday morning, I got to watch the NY media stake out Spitzer’s apartment – like waiting for the Groundhog to make his appearance. When he did finally appear, it was not to say there would be six more weeks of winter, it was only to talk about himself. Fausta nails it:

If he had any honor at all he would NEVER mention them [his family] at all. If he was a man, he would have actually sent them out of the country to spare them all this humiliation.

The remorse I feel will always be with me. Words cannot describe how grateful I am for the love and compassion they have shown me. From those to whom much is given, much is expected. I have been given much: the love of my family, the faith and trust of the people of New York, and the chance to lead this state. I am deeply sorry that I did not live up to what was expected of me. To every New Yorker, and to all those who believed in what I tried to stand for, I sincerely apologize.

It’s all about Eliot, Eliot and more Eliot: eleven “my”, “me” and “I”.

I look at my time as governor with a sense of what might have been, but I also know that as a public servant I, and the remarkable people with whom I worked, have accomplished a great deal. There is much more to be done, and I cannot allow my private failings to disrupt the people’s work.

Translation: “I’m setting up my comeback as we speak”.

[…] As Siggy would say, “what a sanctimonious ass”.

During lunch that day, at a distance I saw a CNBC screen with the banner “Vast Right Wing Conspiracy?” splayed under a Spritzer talking head sound-bite for which I was fortunately out of earshot. Snort. Too funny.

Today I get back to my little blog and see much to my surprise, I’ve been nominated for “The Best of Blogs 2008” award! (I’m assuming it’s 2008, and the 2007 in the comment is a typo. Otherwise, it took a very long time for that comment to post!) Thank you, Hedgenator, whoever you are! Here is the link to the site for last year. Obi’s Sister will be under the “Inspirational” category. Inspirational? Really? Is my nominator being snarky? Anyway, voting begins April 14th, so stay tuned!
