…and he hasn’t even been elected yet!!
From the Boston Herald comes word that Harry Reid/the Senate/the Massachusetts SoS are colluding to hold up the seating of Brown in the Senate, if he wins the election, in order to cram their health care bill down America’s collective throat:
“This is a stunning admission by Paul Kirk and the Beacon Hill political machine,” said Brown in a statement. “Paul Kirk appears to be suggesting that he, Deval Patrick, and (Senate Majority Leader) Harry Reid intend to stall the election certification until the health care bill is rammed through Congress, even if that means defying the will of the people of Massachusetts. As we’ve already seen from the backroom deals and kickbacks cut by the Democrats in Washington, they intend to do anything and everything to pass their controversial health care plan. But threatening to ignore the results of a free election and steal this Senate vote from the people of Massachusetts takes their schemes to a whole new level. Martha Coakley should immediately disavow this threat from one of her campaign’s leading supporters.” A spokeswoman for Coakley’s campaign declined to comment Friday.
Oh my. Oooooh, oh my.
Voters need to call the Democrats’ bluff. The deliberate delay of Brown’s certification in order to push through the health care bill will cause a political explosion unlike anything we have seen before.
There are certain red lines which no one has crossed before. And refusing to seat a duly elected Senator, for the sole purpose of excluding that Senator from voting on a particular piece of legislation, crosses that line.
Democrats are threatening to break the democratic links which bind us as a nation. The electoral outrage at such a tactic will be generational, and the Democratic leadership in Washington knows it.
If on the day of the health care vote, the duly elected Scott Brown shows up at the Senate to claim his seat for the vote, will Harry Reid instruct the Capitol Police to bar Brown from the chamber and from casting his vote? Will that be the legacy of health care “reform”?
The voters of Massachusetts need to call the Democrats bluff on this.
The Democrats have shown complete contempt for the Massachusetts voters, now it is time for the Massachusetts voters to show contempt for the Democrats who have hatched this scheme. [Emphasis mine]
The Democrats must be scared out of their ever-lovin’ minds to even contemplate such a stunt. This is over-the-top behavior, even for them. Are they so enboldened by Obama’s repeated power-grabs that they think it’s time to emulate the boss? Do they think of their constituents as nothing more than mindless lemmings? Evidently.
HillBuzz calls the Democrats despicable, more than once.
Never have Democrats been this shameless, never have they held the voters in such contempt.
Indeed. I’m close to being speechless.
Neo-neocon believes a constitutional crisis is brewing. And she’s usually right.
It has been clear for quite some time that we have a government that has lost sight of the idea of “of the people, by the people, and for the people.” Power is all there is now: yes, they can.
But I wonder why the Democrats have seen fit to let out this information now. Even if they are planning such an action, why announce it at this point? Scott Brown hasn’t won, and chances are he won’t. So why let the people of Massachusetts (and the United States) know in what contempt the Democrats hold them? Why make it so clear that the will of the people does not matter, if that will happens to run counter to the plans of those in power?
Because, make no mistake about it: if Scott Brown were to be elected to the Senate from the state of Massachusetts, the bluest of the blue, it would be for the sole purpose of his vote against the health care reform bill. If the head honchos in Massachusetts were to refuse to seat him until that vote was taken, it would be for the sole purpose of thwarting the will of the people of their own state, and of the nation.
Ironic, isn’t it, that we reach this crisis point in the very same state that witnessed the Boston Tea Party?

Those brave men were fighting against the tyranny of a repressive and unresponsive government. Perhaps our betters in Washington should brush up on their history a bit. Any eighth grade history textbook would do. Throw in a little philosophy for good measure.

And that “constitutional scholar” fella should pay special attention. There will be a test.
Pass or Fail.
But look at who’s throwing a fund-raiser to help out Martha Coakley – lobbyists!
The list of hosts is positively a who’s who in health care lobbyists. Here are just a few of the drug companies and insurance companies that will be represented by the hosts of Coakley’s little fundraiser: Pfizer, Merck, Amgen, Sanofi-Aventis, Eli Lilly, Novartis, Astra-Zeneca, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Cigna, Humana, HealthSouth, and United Health. I wonder if Martha Coakley would be making arguments on behalf of the people or the drug companies and insurers if she is elected?
UPDATE II: Dude!
