Notes on Don Conkey – Defending the American Dream Summit

Pardon the format; these are my notes from the Defending the American Dream Summit.

Look at our money – In God We Trust.

The principle of thirds (comes from Revelation, where a third of the host was cast out):
——- The Left – 1/3 ||| the middle – 1/3 ||| The Right – 1/3 ——-
Left and right constantly fight for a foothold in the middle.

In his 82 years, he’d never seen such a power grab as last Sunday. He’s lived through Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin and Saddam.

We are the modern day patriots.

Four books that will help with the fight:
– The Bible
– The Constitution (always have the pocket one handy)
The 5000 Year Leap
God’s Influence in the Making of America (available soon on unibook)

All our patriotic songs reference God.

The Northwest Ordinance, passed in 1787, outlined how each state would be admitted to the Union. Each state, in it’s education system, was required to teach:
1. Religion
2. Morals
3. Knowledge (in this order!)

Four foundational documents:

– Declaration of Independence
– The Constitution
– Preamble to The Constitution
– The Bill of Rights

Why are we where we are? We fell asleep. Progressives started taking over in the late 1800’s. Through the courts, constitutional law was gradually superseded by case law.

How God is involved in our freedoms:
James 1:25 – But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
Leviticus 25:10 – And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubile unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family.

The next Progressive takeover was 1913, when Teddy Roosevelt pushed the passage of the 16th Amendment. The 17th Amendment followed 30 days later. The 17th Amendment destroyed the state’s rights outlined by Article 10 of the Constitution. Simple, blatant greed.

While everyone constantly spouts “the separation of church and state” as a constitutional tenet, it is NEVER mentioned in the foundational documents. The only source of the phrase is in a letter to Dunbury Methodist Church by Thomas Jefferson.

What the Constitution offers is not freedom FROM religion, but freedom OF religion.

If the 17th Amendment were negated or never passed, our current situation with ObamaCare would handily defeated by a quorum of states representatives (interesting that the quorum of the Senate is 37, and there are (at last count) 37 states acting to sue the government over the legislation). Now it will be much harder. Now, 2/3 of both houses would need to propose and then pass amendments or call a convention.

Through case law and legislation, the meaning of the Constitution has been completely altered. It needs to be brought back to it’s original intent. We can do it through amendments, both new and repealed.

During the Q&A, there were several pointed and detailed questions about Constitutional Conventions.

The first amendment to be proposed should be one LIMITING the power of the EXECUTIVE. Through treaties and executive orders signed by Obama, our rights are being given away.

Notes on Neal Boortz – Defending the American Dream Summit

Pardon the format; these are my notes from the Defending the American Dream Summit.

Required reading – The Law by Frederic Bastiat.

In 1994, conservatives sounded the first warnings of the dangers of the House/Senate/White House being controlled by the same party.

Democrats are already saying that if GOP wins, you’ll lose your healthcare.

The WSJ article that shocked, shocked the Democrats. Neal called it “the Law of Unintended Circumstances.” Law requires large corporations to immediately report to the SEC any change or condition that effects their financial health. $100M Catepillar, $1B ATT, etc. all due to the “financial market change” anticipated by ObamaCare. $14B potential lost profits this year ALONE.

Waxman is mad at these companies and their CEO’s that they dare differ with the imperial economic decree and must make an appearance in front of Waxman’s committees (more show trials) to EXPLAIN why their judgement on ObamaCare is different than theirs.

On the National Debt’s cost to us, the American people:
– On Obama’s first day of office: $56K per household
– today: $72K per household
– projected 2011 budget: $170K per household

To keep ObamaCare on the books, they have to demonize those who are opposed to it.

The Obama Zombies book has piqued his interest.

Liberals don’t want to have a conversation with any conservative on the HCR bill because they don’t want to explain why
– Pelosi, other officials are exempt?
– how to pay for it?
– they voted for it?
– guaranteed issue for everyone?
– weren’t other options considered?
– they believe the ‘mandate’ is constitutional?

They are emboldened now, and will push their agenda aggressively. Things on the way (yes, it gets worse):
– Cap and Trade (already passed by House)
– Pension Plan grab (“Request for Comments” is already out).
– Massive National Debt

Obama’s own words – “the private sector is the enemy.”

He is working on a project where he is rewriting The Federalist Papers in modern-day language. The Revolutionary War was always a minority undertaking.

Are there Americans today willing to make the same sacrifices to reclaim our economic liberty as the patriots who marched through the snow, shoeless, between NY and Philadelphia to fight for independence?

The answer – VOTE THEM OUT.

Give them the finger – the finger that will push the button on the voting machine in November!

Notes on Rep. Tom Price – Defending the American Dream Summit

Pardon the format; these are my notes from the Defending the American Dream Summit.

Solutions being offered now by DC bear no resemblance to American principles.

On Health Care Reform:

1. They’ve stolen the trust between doctors and patients. Government should not interject itself in the free and independent decisions made by two people.
2. The principles of affordability, accountability, and quality – none are improved by the intervention of government.
3. The GOP offered numerous positive solutions – all were rejected by the Democrats. Some were as far back as 15 months ago. He is a member of the Republican Study Committee and urged the audience to sign up for their email alerts.
4. Tort reform – Their bill does NOTHING. The GOP had an alternative, but it was rejected.

The GOP has a strategy for the coming days:
1. Provide knowledge to Americans. ObamaCare is Bad Medicine.
2. No mandate
3. Replace those who voted for the bill, repeal it and reform the system
4. Elections have consequences. November 2008 started it all.

10 Solutions for America:
1. Never apologize for America
2. The current narrative against free market/capitalism is WRONG
3. Spending during a deficet is foolish. Starve the Beast.
4. Fundamental changes are needed in the system. HCR, taxes. He’s a big FairTax supporter. He warning a new national sales tax could be on the way; above and beyond what we already pay in income tax!
5. Americans are bright and industrious. Stop making promises you can’t keep. America can see through the lies.
6. Earmark reform
7. Use privatization to help reduce the size of government
8. Reverse the current incentive to be/stay on welfare.
9. Fix the education system. 40 years of their big experiment in education has resulted in children not having any idea what it means to be American.
10. Change in leadership.

November 2010 is the most important election in modern history.

Make it a goal to recruit 5 people every week to the cause of saving America.

“The price of freedom is eternal vigilance”

Sam Adams – “It does not take a majority to prevail… but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men.”
