Is Obama Afraid of His Shadow?

Must be, if he’s afraid of these folks.

I report, you decide. Remember, November is coming.

Political Prevaricators, Oh Wait, That’s Redundant

The depth and breadth of bad manners is breathtaking. The last few days have brought new meaning to the old joke,

“How do you know a politician is lying?” “Their mouth is open.”

How to lie shamelessly, even on a nationally televised commercial.

Sen. Carl Levin has an attack of Tourette’s, during testimony. The Senate should have a special soap dispenser – adjustable to mouth level.

Goldman Sachs doesn’t mind taking a little heat now, because look at this pot at the end of the carbon-trading rainbow they have wrangled for themselves.

Caleb Howe points out the flow of events around the supposed mortgage collapse orchestrated by Goldman Sachs vis-a-vis their mountainous contributions to the Obama coffers.

To summarize the timeline of events Erick posted on last week: The SEC announced its charges Friday morning. At 10:38 a.m., the New York Times broke the story. 28 minutes later, Organizing for America sent out an email in President Obama’s name calling on people to support his version of “Financial Reform.”

Right after that, the New York Times published a massive hit piece on Goldman Sachs’ alleged actions during the highly publicized bursting of the housing bubble. By that afternoon, the DNC had launched a Google Ad campaign tying Goldman Sachs’ alleged wrongdoing to the need for Obama’s “Financial Reform” proposal. As Erick wrote, this is stunning – especially since (and this bears repeating ad infinite) Goldman was a top donor to the Obama campaign in 2008.

Erick and Dan both (rightly) questioned just how this series of events would have been treated by the press if this had happened during the Bush administration?

The same masters of manipulation can also certainly SIT on reports when it suits their purpose. Jill is literally sputtering with frustration over the Obama administration holding the report on Obamacare costs done by the Medicare Office of the Actuary.

As you may recall, the story was that Congress went ahead with the ram-through, declining to wait for Medicare’s Office of the Actuary’s report on the costs of the bill.

Scratch that. The report was submitted to HHS, and to the White House, at least a week before the vote. It “set off alarm bells,” and was hidden from the public.

And not one ‘public servant’ at HHS leaked anything about the report’s existence or contents. They were ‘too scared.’ Way to earn that salary.

I don’t suppose Sebelius or Obama broke any laws by hiding the report, but it’s unequivocally unethical. Sebelius, at least, should be hauled before one of those blowhard committees, sworn in, and required to disclose what she knew and when she knew it. It’s outrageous. This is the woman who’s been given enormous powers over our healthcare under the new law. And we pay her salary, too.

Add immigration to this mix, along with a compliant media, and things are bound to heat up.

Hoping and praying this isn’t true. Pete is skeptical, as is Stacy.

Obviously, Victor Hill, a.k.a. “Walking Small,” must feel emboldened by the success of the Liar in the White House, otherwise why would he be running for State Senate when he’s still under investigation?

Both Elizabeth and Neo, women whose opinions I value, feel a calm before the storm. Can it get any worse? Oh yes, much worse…

The New N-Word

Quote of the Day

There is Great Britain. The him is Andrew Sullivan. The quote is classic Carol, of No Sheeples Here.

Perhaps surgeons there can give him the uterus he so desperately craves.

The Schnoz Is Vulnerable

Breaking news from Smitty: there are 5 (count ’em, FIVE) opponents lining up against Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA30).

Dancing in the streets may commence.

Be Careful Liberals – Conservatives Are Everywhere!

You never know where we’ll crop up. WinkWinkNodNod

On our little beach jaunt for Spring Break we ran into Marilyn Gallop, proprietress of Sea Jade, on Centre Street in Fernandina Beach, Florida (here’s hoping she has a website soon!). Walking by, it looks like every quaint shell shop in every beach town in America. Then you see this,

Step inside and you meet a patriot, complete with a Gadsden flag behind the register! She said she’d been surprised at the number of people who seconded the patriotic sentiments on her chalkboard. There had only been a couple of liberals willing to show their face in the shop; they didn’t stay long. Like the rest of us, she’s mad, she feels betrayed and she’s searching for ways to make her voice heard. We talked about blogging and Tea Parties and how we both looked forward to kicking the rascals out in November.

The next time you’re down Florida way, stop by the Sea Jade shop and tell a Great American that Obi’s Sister said “Hi!”

These are the wild-eyed radicals I hang with…

Bill Whittle at PJM just gets better and better. Check out this latest video, chock full o’ quotes from our founding fathers. Leave a comment as to which is YOUR favorite.

My favorite? Samuel Adams, of course, for this gem:

If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your counsel nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

And The World Is Flat, Too

Saucy women cause earthquakes.

A senior Iranian cleric says women who wear immodest clothing and behave promiscuously are to blame for earthquakes.

Really.

And the earth is flat. Right.

But back to the earthquakes. Thank heavens, Wee Highlander’s favorite girl is back from her trip to the British Isles. Otherwise, she’d be stuck in Heathrow with a million other people.

Pronounce this – Eyjafjallajökull

That’s the volcano erupting in Iceland, dumping a tremendous ash cloud across the atmosphere.

The Volcanism Blog is a great place to start. There you will find a wealth of information on the Eyjafjallajökull eruptions as well as tons of information on past eruptions around the world.

More in-depth information here along with some pictures.

Breath-taking pictures here.

Pray for the people of Iceland, whether the imams will or not.

The Spring of Our Discontent

Pew Research Center:

By almost every conceivable measure Americans are less positive and more critical of government these days. A new Pew Research Center survey finds a perfect storm of conditions associated with distrust of government – a dismal economy, an unhappy public, bitter partisan-based backlash, and epic discontent with Congress and elected officials.

Trust in government is the lowest it’s been in over fifty years. Read the rest – there are some very interesting stats and graphs.

Ed sums up the study nicely,

Needless to say, this trend bodes ill for any incumbent who supported the radical Democratic agenda of nanny-state policies this session of Congress, especially ObamaCare and cap-and-trade. It also explains the rise of the Tea Parties and the fear of Democrats heading into the midterms.

Obama and the Democrats are bringing their change alright – changes sought by the Communists for years. Yet he continues his pathetic attempts to appeal to those he alienates.

Remember all the yapping about “The Culture of Corruption?” just a few years back? Things haven’t changed, evidently. Things only appears as Obama wishes them to appear.

I’ll join the other ‘right-wing extremists’ to shout, “Can you hear me now?” (Image from Mind Numbed Robot, h/t Troglopundit)

The Next Chapter or The Last?

The NYT deigns to notice that its southern relation is moving its digs. In a move to cut costs, the AJC is relocating to Dunwoody. What that means to non-Atlantans:

Dunwoody is not only outside city limits, it is what Atlantans call O.T.P., or “outside the perimeter,” the freeway loop that, at least in psycho-geographical terms, delineates the transition from city to endless suburbia.

It appears “What Would Henry Grady Do?” no longer applies.

Two former employees (both “retired”) weigh in,

“By leaving 72 Marietta Street,” said Maria Saporta, who worked at the newspaper for 27 years before taking a buyout that was part of a major downsizing, “The Atlanta Journal and Constitution is leaving Henry Grady behind in more ways than one.”

[…] Jim Auchmutey, another veteran journalist who took a buyout, said the move was probably not traumatic for his former colleagues in comparison to losing more than half the staff. But he himself found it difficult.

“It meant something to me that I was walking right past Henry Grady’s statue,” Mr. Auchmutey said. “It meant something to me that we had been down there since the Civil War. I could feel all those ghosts. I know there’s history in Dunwoody, too, but it’s not the history of this newspaper.”

I wonder how long it will be before Ted Turner bulldozes the property (next to CNN Center) and builds a mega-plex parking garage/movie theater.

The move is part of a desperate bid by Cox Newspapers, the owner, to salvage the newspaper’s bottom line, which has been battered by the recession and the declining fortunes of the industry. In six months in 2009, the circulation fell 20 percent, more than any other major American newspaper, according to the Audit Bureau of Circulations.

While the parent company Cox believes they will save money with the move, they have plopped themselves and their employees right down into the ATL TripleNexusOfTrafficEvilness. You need black helicopters and MegaTrons to get through that gauntlet. Daily. My condolences.

I also wonder what my departed uncle, Marine veteran and former AJC Circulation Manager for over 40 years, would have to say about it.

Sorry So Quiet – UPDATED

A family emergency required my presence so I’ve been out of town for a day or so. While I’m happy and relieved at the current outcome (things could have been much worse), I’m sad that I’ve missed the Tea Party Day. So I’ll just have to live vicariously through your pictures and stories.

Send me links, pictures, inspiration. The email address is in the left side-bar.

Here’s our pal John Berry, singing Give Me Back My America live last fall (sorry it won’t embed). Spread it around – let’s make this the unofficial Tea Party Song!

Pundit and Pundette has great pictures, including “The Fedora Boys” – Stacy and Smitty of The Other McCain and DaTechGuy, all CPAC pals.

More Tea Party posts:

Why a Tea Party? This is why. This, too.

Mockery. What else did you expect? “Dissent is the highest form of patriotism” only counts when you’re a Democrat protesting something GW Bush said, did, thought, etc.

Brace yourself for the smears.

A Jobs-Lost Visual Aid

A map of employment gains or losses by county tells the story of how those job losses first struck in the most vulnerable regions and then spread rapidly to the rest of the country.

It won’t embed here, so go there. I’ll wait.

Nauseous? I bet. Add to that the fact that the Obama White House said nuclear blast victims would have to “wait” if when America is attacked due to his spineless performance as POTUS.

If he can’t tax us to death, he’ll watch us die of radiation poisoning.

And yes, I’m in a bad mood today. Thanks for asking!
