Quote of the Day

Elizabeth Scalia, while pope-watching (he is on a visit to the UK),

It is becoming tiresome that folks seem to think Benedict is responsible for every utterance that comes from the mouth of every Catholic. Do we expect Obama to have to answer for Schumer?

Awww, That’s Sweet

Delta Air Lines and numerous Braves fans gave Bobby Cox a surprise sent-off for his last road trip as Braves manager, at least during the regular season. Delta even put his number on the 737.

That dugout won’t look the same without him.

In a Perfect World…

They would be throwing parades for Dinesh D’Souza’s Forbes article if it was an expose of a conservative or a Republican, dancing merry gigs like orcs ’round the fire. But instead he gets pouty stabs from a thin-skinned White House.

The White House wouldn’t try to pull strings in elections. At least (and correct me if I’m wrong) it didn’t in the past, so publicly.

White House employees are Americans that love America. And don’t plot to use the free market to de-develop our great nation.

Words mean what they mean. Like freedom doesn’t equal control. Job creation means more jobs, not less. And you count them one at a time.

Instructions are real directions, not just suggestions. As my old junior high band teacher used to say, “Results, Not Excuses.” Indeed.

Vintage Middle School Term of the Day

Slambook. Remember slambooks? Way before Facebook, there were slambooks. You could really say what you thought, and didn’t have to worry if someone un-friended you. Like I really care if you don’t want to be my friend in the Pretend-Universe-Of-Everybody-Is-So-Nicey-Nicey-To-Your-Face.

Double RedNBlack points to Spencer at EDSBS, for digging this term out of the cobwebs of our minds.

OH IT’S SO ON. Todd Grantham spars with Spurrier. This will spread to slambook warfare, and then Facebook comment threads, and soon the assistant principal will have to have a stern talk with all of you about the importance of respecting each other before dismissing both of you, reaching for the scotch in his desk, and praying for a swift death from cirrhosis.

The Ol’ Ball Coach whiffs at Todd Grantham, and Todd just slams him back with a smile. What a polite young man. All that is missing the little ting, perfect head tilt toward the camera and sparkle-flash on his smile like in those Orbit commercials.

Go Dawgs.

Can You Smell the Fear?

Tea Party candidates did well in last night’s primaries. Neither establishment camp is happy. In fact, they’re scared $*&#less. Better entertainment couldn’t be had, unless, of course, it’s Sunday night.

As Erick said, it’s been a delightful morning.

C’mon folks, we can do this. November is coming!

Update: Woot! Linked by Bride of Rove.

Oh My

Ree Drummond is at it again. Making me gain weight by just looking at pictures on her blog.

She is an evil, evil woman.

Delaware Polls Closed; Pudding?

RS McCain, of The Other McCain is at the Christine O’Donnell HQ watching the precinct results come in. The big question is, did he bring the pudding?

The Dish from Dinesh

All you’ve ever suspected wanted to know about Obama’s worldview in one handy guide. I think this would be excellent reading material for, say, standing in line waiting to vote. When you’re done, hand it back down the line. One vote at a time; America will survive this tool.

It may seem incredible to suggest that the anticolonial ideology of Barack Obama Sr. is espoused by his son, the President of the United States. That is what I am saying. From a very young age and through his formative years, Obama learned to see America as a force for global domination and destruction. He came to view America’s military as an instrument of neocolonial occupation. He adopted his father’s position that capitalism and free markets are code words for economic plunder. Obama grew to perceive the rich as an oppressive class, a kind of neocolonial power within America. In his worldview, profits are a measure of how effectively you have ripped off the rest of society, and America’s power in the world is a measure of how selfishly it consumes the globe’s resources and how ruthlessly it bullies and dominates the rest of the planet.

For Obama, the solutions are simple. He must work to wring the neocolonialism out of America and the West. And here is where our anticolonial understanding of Obama really takes off, because it provides a vital key to explaining not only his major policy actions but also the little details that no other theory can adequately account for.

He applies that mindset to everything, from healthcare to banking to NASA to school lunches.

Read the whole thing. That’s ok, I’ll wait.

Along the same lines is Jill’s assessment of the latest personality to emerge from Obama’s massive psyche. I bet Freud is clawing himself out of his grave to get a crack at this one.

Ten Buck Friday Winner and a New Poll

Congrats to Stephen Broden, winner of last week’s TBF Poll. Stephen is running for Congress in Texas, district 30. You might of heard of his opponent, Democratic incumbent Eddie Bernice Johnson, who funneled scholarship monies from the Congressional Black Caucus to family members, instead of deserving students in her district. You can donate to Stephen directly here. Be sure to note Ten Buck Friday in the occupation field.

And right on time, is this week’s poll. Vote here, vote there, don’t be square.

Quote of the Day

Smitty of The Other McCain, on remembrance:

As we remember the victims of the 9/11, let us recall that the struggle unfolds over time. Positive statements of firmness, resolve, and commitment to principle are worth making. The negative inputs of a Terry Jones or a Fred Phelps, not so much. People join the military, I can say from experience, setting aside a portion of their individual liberty for a time so that the country’s liberty remain protected. The reason there is such a disproportionate (I say with no research to back me up) military Tea Party presence is that those who have served are having none of this nonsense espoused by the Left.
