You Don’t Say?

I don’t care much for polls. But this one by Gallup shows that distrust of the US Media has reached an all-time high.

Americans’ distrust in the media hit a new high this year, with 60% saying they have little or no trust in the mass media to report the news fully, accurately, and fairly. Distrust is up from the past few years, when Americans were already more negative about the media than they had been in years prior to 2004.

Distrust the US media, you say? How can that be?

They daily sing the praises of Dear Leader.

They worship at his feet.

They submit stories to their WH minders.

They accept top secret information and endanger Americans at home and abroad.

They push agendas formulated in hidden places.

They twist facts and make up stories out of whole cloth. (UPDATE: Exhibit A.)

They stick together like a pack of jackals.

If you didn’t know better, you’d think you were in North Korea.

Some Day Maybe He’ll Get Something Right #ObamaFail

Maybe it will be his library. Who knows. But you can be sure it will have a putting green and a basketball goal.

At least CBS noticed his foreign policy is in shambles. It is wonder, since the WH is full of blabbermouths?

“Protesters” are now attacking the Jarkarta embassy.

Of course, CNN released the picture and personal info of the guy who created the “video” that the Religion of Peace is rioting over. Probably got their info from the WH, who again, need the media to cover for their missteps.

The Obama administration continues to misdirect, but fewer and fewer are buying it.

If I didn’t know any better, I’d think Obama this whole mess. #ManchurianCandidate

President Smarty Pants

Dripping with snark, Marc Theissen mocks the superior intellect of That Guy in the Oval Office.

This president, you see, does not need briefers. He can forgo his daily intelligence meeting because he is, in [Tommy] Vietor’s words, “among the most sophisticated consumers of intelligence on the planet.”

Truly sophisticated consumers of intelligence don’t see it as a sign of weakness to “be briefed” by the experts. Most of us, if we subscribed to a daily report on, say, astrophysics, would probably need some help interpreting it. But when it comes to intelligence, Obama is apparently so brilliant he can absorb the most complicated topics by himself in his study. He does not need to sit down for up to an hour a day with top intelligence officials, or hold more than 100 “deep dives” in which he invites CIA analysts into the Oval Office and gives them direct access to the commander in chief to discuss their areas of expertise. Such meetings are crutches this president does not need. Written briefings, questions and comments are enough. Obama has more important things to do — such as attend Las Vegas fundraisers.

No doubt the intelligence community has adapted to its diminished access to the commander in chief and is finding a way to get the president the intelligence he needs. Members of the community have endured a lot these past 3 1/2 years — accusations of torture from the Oval Office; more than 100 criminal investigations from the Obama Justice Department that resulted in zero — zero — criminal charges being filed; a president who is quick to claim credit for killing Osama bin Laden while denying credit to the CIA interrogators who made the mission possible. They’ll survive not being invited more frequently into the Oval Office.

Read the whole thing.

Maybe if he’d opened his briefing book, instead of making a tee time or checking to see if he has a voicemail from Beyonce, four Americans might still be alive.

Happy Birthday Little Brother

In honor of your birthday, I’d like to suggest Romney/Ryan that use this nugget of your Jedi wisdom in their campaign:

Who’s the more foolish, the fool or the fool who follows him?

Have a great birthday. Go Dawgs!

Eleven Years

It occurred to me yesterday morning why I’ve not been able to shake this lingering funk. 9/11. Like many Americans, something changed in me that day. Something was lost, that will never be found again.

Last year, on the tenth anniversary, the memorial was opened. Among the engraved names of the lost are four Georgians:

  • Claude Michael Gann of Roswell, whose tribute you can find here. Mike was recently remarried and attending a conference at Windows on the World.
  • Major Stephen V. Long of Georgia, whose tributes you can find here and here. Already a war hero, he was at his post at the Pentagon when it was attacked.
  • Maynard S. Spence Jr of Douglasville, whose tribute you can find here. He was on the 99th floor of the second tower.
  • Harshad Sham Thatte of Norcross, whose Legacy page is here. He worked for the same company as Mr. Spence, Marsh & McLennan.

The same naysayers and denialists from the first year anniversary still abound. I guess you have to have a heart for it to be broken.

As for me, I mourn today as I have for the last ten years.

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul:
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: for thou art with me;
thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:
thou anointest my head with oil;
my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
(Psalms 23: 1-6)

UPDATE: I was remiss in omitting a link to the 2996 Project. One of the projects this year was to have a pin on Pinterest for every soul lost. Read more about their efforts by following the link.

UPDATE II: Today was a clear, early fall day, just like that day. Sarah Hoyt remembers, and wonders about the present. (H/T Glenn Reynolds)

And as an author to an Author I have to admire the plotting touch, where the three burly and brave guys who spearheaded the fight back in flight 93 were a born again man, a Jewish man, and a gay man. Can you imagine any group designed to give more heart burn to the enemies that brought down the towers and who tried to use flight 93 as a weapon?

I can’t either. But, more importantly, I can’t imagine any other culture, any other country, any other place where those three would have banded together, immediately – instinctively – putting aside any perceived differences, thinking only of trying to save the defenseless, laying down their lives for others.

Their lives were forfeit, but they died free men. They died heroes. More importantly, they died Americans.

Now That the DNC is Over…

I’m sure Charlotte is breathing a sigh of relief.

Honestly, I didn’t watch any of it. This campaign, in fact the last three years, has had a detrimental effect on me and my family.

(H/T Political Clown Parade)

If you’re part of the problem, get a clue, while you still can.

Say it ain’t so, say it ain’t SO!

Via Allahpundit, comes the horrifying news that Hollywood, in it’s mindless stupor, is releasing a sequel to A Christmas Story.

Follow the link, because I refuse to desecrate this blog with that video embed. It is truly awful.

Roll the Laugh Track

The DNC started last night. Ask me if I care. My life is too complicated right now to listen to grievance merchants chant their slogans or watch the clown parade. Dresses made from metallic tablecloths (insert heavy sigh here) don’t belong in political discourse.

A few highlights, from those with more time and the intestinal fortitude to withstand the muck, but first a visual aid via the DrudgeReport front page:

Click the picture to embiggen. Notice that little red arrow? I put that there, since I’m a genius graphic artist as well as Jedi Master, just to highlight that one little headline. The US slips in global competitiveness. King Obama is getting his wish, isn’t he? Another “inconvenient” nugget is that the National Debt topped $16 Billion on the first day of the DNC. Just another rung in the Obama Wants to Cripple America Ten Step Plan.

There are some not-so-subtle changes in the DNC platform. No more God but Hamas gets a high five.

Bigotry is finally defined, for those of us who notice that the goal posts shift constantly.

Nazi references flung far and wide. So according to Godwin’s Law, do the Dems automatically lose? Or do they attack those rules as raaaaacist as well?

The MSM is acknowledging their whining is real and so very painful… they feel so helpless. Waaaahhhhh.

But by far, the DNC has wowed in one respect: Best.Tweet.Ever.
