Hands Off American’s Retirement!

Greedy Democrats, and other ne’er-do-wells are chomping at the bit to get their hands on our retirement savings.

If Australia can do it, you can bet the ObamaPelosi monster will figure out a way to steal even more from us.

So somebody’s going to decide what “reasonable levels” are. The U.S. Government will decide whether your lifestyle is reasonable or not, and if not, then you’ll pay.

What’s that? You earned that money? You were responsible, and made sure you could pay your own way, even if that includes expensive health care services as you get older?

It’s all right there in the Obama budget presented yesterday.

Roll the Laugh Track

The DNC started last night. Ask me if I care. My life is too complicated right now to listen to grievance merchants chant their slogans or watch the clown parade. Dresses made from metallic tablecloths (insert heavy sigh here) don’t belong in political discourse.

A few highlights, from those with more time and the intestinal fortitude to withstand the muck, but first a visual aid via the DrudgeReport front page:

Click the picture to embiggen. Notice that little red arrow? I put that there, since I’m a genius graphic artist as well as Jedi Master, just to highlight that one little headline. The US slips in global competitiveness. King Obama is getting his wish, isn’t he? Another “inconvenient” nugget is that the National Debt topped $16 Billion on the first day of the DNC. Just another rung in the Obama Wants to Cripple America Ten Step Plan.

There are some not-so-subtle changes in the DNC platform. No more God but Hamas gets a high five.

Bigotry is finally defined, for those of us who notice that the goal posts shift constantly.

Nazi references flung far and wide. So according to Godwin’s Law, do the Dems automatically lose? Or do they attack those rules as raaaaacist as well?

The MSM is acknowledging their whining is real and so very painful… they feel so helpless. Waaaahhhhh.

But by far, the DNC has wowed in one respect: Best.Tweet.Ever.

Democrats hint at gift that will keep on giving…

Pelosi to vie for Minority House Leader.

I mean, really, what could go wrong? Other than ensuring a GOP/tea-party majority until the Second Coming, I have no problem with this. At all.

Quote of the Day

Smitty at The Other McCain, on Jim Moran’s (D-VA8) cowardly jab at his opponent Patrick Murray which quickly grows into an insult to our military and veterans, gets the nod for today’s QotD. The whole thing is too good to excerpt, so I’m using it all, except you’ll need to go over and watch the Jim Moran video yourself, follow the other links but mostly to give Smitzy the linky-love he so craves.

What [Republicans] do is that they find candidates – usually stealth candidates – that haven’t been in office, haven’t served or performed any kind of public service. My opponent is typical.

The obvious slam here is the attack on service to the public in the military as somehow not being public service.

However, consider the audience. This is the Arlington County Democratic Committee. The audience in VA-8 isn’t just your garden variety Democrat. Without going too far on a limb, this ACDC likely has an abnormally high representation of Federal bureaucrats and lobbyists. The faceless, unelected, mostly unaccountable twerps who, termite-like, gnaw at the foundations of our liberty.

After denigrating 24 years of honorable military service in the first half, the second half of the clip is more interesting:

And of course, for 24 years, he’s taken a government check because, frankly, the military still is part of the Federal government, uh, and, yet, his principle platform is to cut government spending.

What is the implication here, Moran? That an Army Colonel was on the dole for two and a half decades, and is somehow biting the hand that feeds? Showing ingratitude toward his Ruling Class elite betters, i.e. you? Should Patrick Murray have simply taken a job with one of PMA’s clients, and got on the ‘beltway bandit’ gravy train? Would that have made his interest in supporting and defending the Constitution of the United States less odious to you, assuming proper campaign contributions?

Jim Moran acts like a status quo fat cat. The sort of elite, aristocratic snob who, 235 years ago, would like have supported King George III against the American Revolution. The kind of dead wood Democrat who needs to go on 02 November. The kind of patronage-loving upper class boob who supports every atrocious, economy-wrecking policy that the Gnomes of Capitol Hill crank out by the ream.

Tying Moran’s broad way to destruction with his audience, ACDC, we’ll end this rant with a video about where the ideas of Moran, Nancy Pelosi, and this Administration will lead this country, if we don’t elect leaders like Patrick Murray and retire Jim Moran:

In eleven days, if the Dems don’t lose enough seats to lose control of at least the House, we are on a highway to hell indeed.

Democratic Operatives Attacking Opponent’s Children – Move Along, Nothing to See Here

A few days ago, Stacy posted a lengthy and well-researched article on how Democratic operatives are using Twitter to smear opposing candidates (especially those affiliated with Tea Parties) and attack their children. It’s painful and sickening to read, and to also realize there are actually people out there that would stoop to this type of denigration. (Warning – not safe for little eyes!)

Now in Stacy’s second post on “TwitterGate,” we see that Neal Rauhauser, the self-proclaimed organizer of these coordinated attacks, has cut and run. His guilt is apparent, since he’s protected his Twitter account, shut down others from where the offending tweets originated and circled the wagons of the co-tweeters. Maybe he’s taking his lead from the CinC, who you will remember, “has nothing to hide”, either.

I call on all the Democratic candidates/incumbants who hired this man to kick him, and his organization, to the curb for their disgusting behavior! Prove to your constituents you believe in American values, not this trash.

New Element Discovered

From the mail bag, and just too funny to not pass along!

A major research institution has just announced the discovery of the densest element yet known to science. The new element has been named Pelosium. Pelosium has one neutron, 12 assistant neutrons, 75 deputy neutrons, and 224 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 311.

These particles are held together by dark forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons.

The symbol of Pelosium is PU.

Pelosium’s mass actually increases over time, as morons randomly interact with various elements in the atmosphere and become assistant deputy neutrons within the Pelosium molecule, leading to the formation of

This characteristic of moron-promotion leads some scientist to believe that Pelosium is formed whenever morons reach a certain quantity in concentration. This hypothetical quantity is referred to as Critical Morass.

When catalyzed with money, Pelosium activates CNNadnausium, an element that radiates orders of magnitude more energy, albeit as incoherent noise, since it has half as many peons but twice as many morons as Pelosium.

She blinded me with science!

Yes, Sometimes History Is Offensive. Get Over It.

Yes, sometimes history is offensive. Gut-wrenching. Nauseating. But these sometimes horrific events must be examined and taught, the contributing factors analyzed, not only in that era’s context but with the wisdom that comes from hindsight. How do you expect future generations to avoid the same mistakes if they don’t understand the underlying principles?

Award winning AP History teacher in hot water for teaching about … racial hatred. It’s not what she taught, but how she taught it. Remember, in this day and age, delivery is everything and bound to offend someone.

Catherine Ariemma never intended for students to be offended by the sight of four Ku Klux Klansmen at Lumpkin County High School.

But that’s how senior Cody Rider said he felt last Thursday when he looked up and saw the students — dressed in white hoods and sheets — walking through the school cafeteria.

[…] Ariemma, a six-year veteran with the Lumpkin County school system, said the students, who were working on a film project for her advanced placement U.S. history class, meant no harm.

She admitted that she may have made a mistake by letting the students film the Klan reenactment on campus.

“I feel terrible that I have students who feel threatened because of something from my class,” Ariemma told the AJC. “In hindsight, I wouldn’t have had them film that part at school.”

But the damage was done.

A report went to school officials, after parents of black students learned what had happened and called the district.

Ariemma was placed on paid suspension, and activist the Rev. Markel Hutchins was called to the town 50 miles north of Atlanta to help quell what seemed to be growing frustration among Dahlonega’s small African American community.

[…] “This project was about racism in U.S. history,” Ariemma said. “Not just racism against African Americans, but racism as a whole.”

She said including the Ku Klux Klan was an essential piece.

“You cannot discuss racism without discussing the Klan,” she said. “To do so would be to condone their actions.”

With this heady mix, what could go wrong? A fine teacher will probably lose her job and the race pirates win again. Everybody loses.

Through personal experience, I know that AP students are encouraged to stretch themselves academically and are challenged to levels of critical thinking not usually achieved by a normal high school student. Again, how can our children avoid the mistakes of the past if they are prohibited from learning by paranoid administrators and race-baiting politics?

The Obama Overreach

Cartoon by William Warren

So thankful I no longer have small children. Dear Leader wants to interrupt the school day to start his indoctrination program. Stephen Green says, “Keep ’em at home next Tuesday.” A parent’s first job is to protect their children, especially if it’s from an overreaching administration. Like every other cautious parent, I’d like to know WHAT he plans to say BEFORE he says it and then I’d decide whether to let my child participate. Why take the time out of the third movie of the week precious instruction time? Just pass out autographed copies of Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals with a homework guide and/or coloring sheet.

Mom Michelle Malkin is steamed:

Downplaying academic achievement in favor of left-wing radical activism in the public schools is rooted in old neighborhood pal and Weather Underground terrorist Bill Ayers’ pedagogical philosophy.

In typical Obama fashion, things on the internet change and change again. After all, he promised us all CHANGE, didn’t he? Now (big surprise?) the teacher’s aid materials are being whitewashed.

The White House has re-written its activist talking points for teachers/administrators disseminated by the US Department of Education and removed the language about “helping the president.”

But there’s more (h/t Fausta)…much more. One of Barack’s own websites stepped over a line when it called conservative Americans “…mobs, Nazis and Fascists…Al Qaeda terrorists.” Read it yourself. And note that The Foundry got a screen shot of the offensive page before, again, it was scrubbed. Change, change, change we can all believe in! Why is it when I go to a rally with a homemade sign, I’m astroturfing, but when Obama busses in loads of thugs to shout me down and beat me up, it’s a grassroots movement? Change, baby, change.

But wait… there’s more. Doug Ross has an excellent expose on a recent White House RFQ to technology vendors to harvest vast amounts of personal information (quoting NLPC):

NLPC has uncovered a plan by the White House New Media operation to hire a technology vendor to conduct a massive, secret effort to harvest personal information on millions of Americans from social networking websites… The targeted sites include Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, YouTube, Flickr and others – any space where the White House “maintains a presence.”

It’s like Fishy-Email-Gate’s big brother, Guido, on steriods. Read the complete RFQ here. Amazing that an administration headed by a Intergalactic Constitutional Scholar wouldn’t know that this is yet another in a series of illegal acts.

Or as Doug put it so well, “Obama makes Nixon look like a rank amateur.”

UPDATE: Not sure about the whole school, but at least the boy’s class didn’t watch The Speech.

Tell Me, Was It Worth It?

Stacy of The Other McCain went to a book talk by Johan Norberg, author of Financial Fiasco: How America’s Infatuation with Home Ownership and Easy Money Created the Economic Crisis. He interviewed Mr. Norberg for The American Spectator:

Norberg said the TARP bailout would have the perverse effect of encouraging lenders and other financial institutions to engage in the same kinds of risky behaviors that led to last year’s meltdown.
“If bankers make stupid mistakes and we bail them out, it encourages them to take big risks in order to make short-term gains, knowing that if they lose out, they can always send the bill to the taxpayers,” Norberg said…

I’ve always said that the greed and avarice of liberals combined with backroom marxism is what set up the perfect storm of the 2008 election. What better way to tank America than to elect a puppet – reminiscent of Dauphins – that are easily controlled by various and sundry Richelieus pulling strings from behind lace curtains?

Is it worth it? Was one election worth it? Hello? Bueller? Bueller?

Look! A Memeorandum thread!

Atlanta Politics Online

Yours truly is now a contributor at Atlanta Politics Online, Clayton County Bureau.

Check out my first post, for Mary Jo, who was from Pennsylvania via New Jersey, not Clayton County. According to Stacy, she’d seen the Sunny South:

Mary Jo had gone to Alabama during the civil rights era, having the courage to live out her own convictions.

Imagine the life she might have had.

Trying to Conjure Up Some Sympathy for Ted Kennedy. Trying Hard. Nah. Not Gonna Happen.

Today I splurged a bit on a pedicure. It has been months since I felt I could indulge, considering the economy, the belt-tightening and all. Sadly, my experience was tainted by the prominent TV splashed with Brian Williams blathering on and on and on and on about the legacy of Ted Kennedy. The boat anchored in the harbor. The quiet family compound. The pictures. The wives. The pundits. The neighbors. On and on and on and ON.

(picture via Bob Belvedere)

The only mention I heard of Mary Jo Kopechne in my brief time at the nail salon was as background to grainy black and white film of Ted and wife Joan attending her funeral. You know, the funeral HE caused.

Bob also said (Kennedy was always his senator),

I fully expect the Left to exploit his death in their endeavours to socialize health care. They have no shame, as they have well shown [if there was any doubt] these past few months, and will use any means necessary, including the death of their beloved standard bearer, to effect the passage of this monstrous plan. They have no honor.

Stacy notes the liberal spin even upon death.

The media will forgive liberals anything. Just look at the passive-voice construct in his obit: “an accident that left a young woman dead.”

Forgiven by the media, liberals are shameless about such things. And so, in subsequent years, Americans were often subjected to the shameful spectacle of Ted Kennedy, the Chappaquiddick swim champ, lecturing us in moralistic tones about this, that and the other.

Whenever Kennedy would inflict his pompous self-righteous liberal moralizing on us, I’d always hear Ann Coulter’s immortal words: “Mary Jo Kopechne could not be reached for comment.”

Michelle Malkin urges conservatives to be respectful of the dead. That’s a fine and noble idea, and I urge the same as well, but the liberals will even then find a way to mock us because we’re trying to be the grown-up in the room by respecting one of theirs. They certainly would NOT return the courtesy.

The Anchoress, thoughtful as always, has a wonderful round-up of all sorts of thoughts regarding Ted. The Lord is indeed merciful. Examining his life, like the rest of us, will

…expose deep flaws and surprising episodes of generosity.

Jimmie notes that Ted pursued the finest of health care for himself (all the while he was trying to relegate the rest of the nation to a rationed plan) and urges us to follow his example.

Ace remembers that Kennedy actually blocked health care reform in the 1970’s because of partisan politics.

Lance says that Dems are jumping on the bandwagon to name the health care boondoggle after him. (You just have to go there to read the rest but put your drink down first.)

Wow, Democrats must really have hated Sen. Kennedy, wanting to chain his name to a bill that’s going to fail so spectacularly.

Gateway Pundit: Chris Matthews says Barack is now the LAST Kennedy brother. Really. And that conservatives are insane and want to… maim, murder, kill, not tax the donuts… who knows what now. Matthews just makes it up as he goes. What a fruitcake.

UPDATE: Sigh. They are so predictable. Plus Obama can never turn down a chance to mug for the cameras. (h/t Gateway Pundit)

Astroturfing for Fun and Pleasure

Need some extra pocket cash? Want to stash away a couple of Benjamins for the ol’ Christmas fund? Just answer a few ads, carry a few signs and you’re in the money. Yes, Caleb’s been bird-dogging the “Protesters for Hire” story and now we see you can earn upwards of $16 an hour yelling at, threatening, strong-arming those pesky un-American peasants that can’t refresh their stable of corporate jets on the taxpayer’s dime.

Not to belabor the point, but exactly where do the Democrats get off accusing anyone of astroturf when their operation makes astroturf look like a patch of virgin grass, a verdant meadow untouched by man or beast?

Pot, meet kettle.

Those Democrats are spreading the wealth, that’s for sure.

Proud Member of the Angry Mob

Yeah, I know, I really look like a rabble-rousing mobster. Like these other mob members.

Via Trog:

Funny, it reminds me of this…Inspector Kemp and his mob.

Inspector Kemp

Every self-respecting mob needs a leader, and Inspector Kemp was outstanding in his role. Such organization, such rhetoric, such aim, such sound effects! Our government no longer resembles a thoughtful, deliberate body of legislators and is quickly descending into a silly parody of Young Frankenstein outtakes.

No Green Eggs, but All Green Ham

Sam I Am… Obama’s transparency is showing again. He’s holding budget numbers until after August recess

Consider this: if those budget numbers looked good, would the White House postpone revealing them? Obama could use all the good news he can get at the moment, especially with two big-spending bills stalling in Congress. If the deficit looked better than their May predictions, or even if it looked the same, those numbers would have already hit the front pages of newspapers across America and every network news broadcast, with the message that the worst has passed.

This reminds of the last Georgia gubernatorial election. It was annual Open Enrollment for the employees for the state, but they were told they couldn’t find out how much our benefits would cost them until AFTER the election. Fishy business, if you ask me.

His porkulus spending is turning up to be just piles of more pork – lots of money spent on lots of HAM. What happened to getting the money into the hands of the people who needed it? Oh wait, that doesn’t fit the agenda of destroying America, even if it is only one Deli at a time. Even the Treasury doesn’t know where all the money has gone.

According to the liberal neo-Keynesian economic gospel, as long as the federal government does X-billion dollars of deficit spending, that will produce X-plus-Y amount of stimulus value (where Y = Magic Government Spending Multiplier Effect) without regard to whether the money ends up feeding orphans or supplying the mistresses of Goldman Sachs executives with bustiers and garter belts.

Too big to wrap your head around? Need a visual aid? Check out the US Debt Clock (h/t American Digest) – this is the inheritance of our children and their children and their children and….

I know it’s only wishful thinking, but wouldn’t it be nice if the MSM could see as clearly as Yid with Lid, who sees straight through The Statist’s latest maneuver?

At a time when Congress is judging whether to commit trillions of dollars on Health Care and Cap and Trade, the Obama administration is hiding key information because it might hurt his agenda.
