Hands Off American’s Retirement!

Greedy Democrats, and other ne’er-do-wells are chomping at the bit to get their hands on our retirement savings.

If Australia can do it, you can bet the ObamaPelosi monster will figure out a way to steal even more from us.

So somebody’s going to decide what “reasonable levels” are. The U.S. Government will decide whether your lifestyle is reasonable or not, and if not, then you’ll pay.

What’s that? You earned that money? You were responsible, and made sure you could pay your own way, even if that includes expensive health care services as you get older?

It’s all right there in the Obama budget presented yesterday.

It’s the Little Things

You can’t turn a cruise ship on a dime. But yes, you can turn it around, slowly and carefully to set it on course.

Exhibit A – N:

– Saying the President is “cool” is raaaaacist code.
– You keep saying that word. It doesn’t mean what you think it means.
– Obama’s very bad week.
Florida sues the Fed DHS to get a voter’s database that should belong to them anyway called “Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements” (SAVE). They want to use the database to verify the citizenship, and thus the voter registration, of suspected illegal immigrants in Florida. But the Feds say, “Nooooooooo….”
– Remember when Top Secret meant something? The current administration leaks solely for fun and pleasure...and to skew the political landscape in their favor.
– Americans net worth dropped 40% in the last 3 years. And that inheritance? Fughetaboutit.
– “Just Fine” gaffe now blamed on … wait for it… the media.
NY Dems about to nominate a former Black Panther, anti-Israel race baiter for Congress.
Obama channels his inner Caesar as he decides who lives and who dies. Sic Semper Tyrannis.
Politifact may be not as factual as you think. I’m shocked! Shocked, I tell you!
– If AG Eric Holder has a ‘Advance to Go, Collect $200’ presidential pardon card in his pocket, this might be the time to use it.
– House Republicans, 85 of ’em, don’t like the idea of their constituents being SWATted.
Navy unmanned drone crashes in eastern Maryland. What was it up to? Surely not looking for a mythical #BrentKimberlin SWATting… Rep. Austin Scott (R-Ga.) wants to ground the drones domestically. Smart guy.
– We will take converts, one at a time. Welcome, Greg.

Ethics, Schmethics

Georgia House Speaker David Ralston, was a guest on a lobbyist-funded $17,000 European trip over Thanksgiving.

Last year, the same Georgia House Speaker David Ralston sponsored the first ethics legislation in several years. He favors that lobbyists report what they spend on legislators, but without a limit. New rules proposed this session by ethics watchdogs limit lobbyist gifts to lawmakers to $100.

There’s a big gap between $100 and $17,000. Talk about the lifestyles of the rich and famous.

As for me, we spent Thanksgiving at home, feasting on a bird we purchased on sale at Publix. With a coupon. Thanks for asking.

Boy, I’m in the wrong business.

Well Doesn’t This Give You a Big, Warm Fuzzy

45 members of a Mexican drug cartel were arrested in ATLANTA today.

From CNN:

The arrests were made by members of the federal Drug Enforcement Administration, the Clayton County District Attorney’s Office and other law enforcement agencies, the DEA said. The investigation, called Operation Choke Hold, started in May 2009.

[…] During the arrests, the DEA said in a release, authorities seized 46 pounds of methamphetamine, a clandestine methamphetamine laboratory, nearly 95 pounds (43 kilograms) of cocaine, 4,120 pounds of marijuana, 20 firearms and $2.349 million [in cash].

According to the AJC, the operation began in Gwinnett County, then moved to Spalding, then finally Clayton. There were also cells in Cobb and Henry counties.

Quote of the Day

More historic stuff, historic, I tell ya.

Per Vodkapundit on Obama’s latest blatherings on border security:

“Unprecedented resources?” Well, yeah, if you include a White House lawsuit to prevent the state government of Arizona from helping the Federal government to enforce its own laws. That seems pretty unprecedented to me.

While Caleb Howe had a Caption Contest the other day, (of which few, if any, of my ideas were printable), this picture needs no caption at all.

The Tangled Web of Obama’s Politics

While the honeymoon has been over for a while, inside sources whisper that Obama is now sleeping on America’s couch. It won’t be long before he’s kicked out of the house and asks his secretary find him a place to live.

First, let’s back up to the election of 2008. Even before then, to the primaries. Allegations are surfacing that Obama was selected (read pushed) by the DNC over Hillary Clinton, over the votes of millions of Americans. Threats, intimidation and voter fraud were rampant, especially in the caucus states. Gigi Gaston is a writer/director who produced a documentary, We Will Not Be Silenced, outlining the rampant voter fraud perpetrated by the Obama campaign. Check out Carol’s Closet. Maggie has more on each video. Hillbuzz has more on the corruption, as well.

My question is, with Hillary being the political animal she is, why did she roll over and let Obama get away with this? Was she threatened? Was her family threatened? Was it presented as a ‘take one for the team or we’ll paint you a raaaaacist’ scenario? It seems odd to me that Hillary would allow someone else to cheat her out of the prize she’s coveted for so long. Perhaps it has been covered elsewhere and I’ve missed it. Send links/info/etc., and I will update to include.

The New Black Panther voter intimidation and subsequent dropping by the DOJ has been roundly discussed, by people much smarter than me. However, some believe the case has ‘nine lives’ and it is about to be resurrected, much to the administration’s dismay.

It’s our sincere hope that Eric Holder made a colossal mistake of Watergate proportions with the dismissal of prosecution in the Black Panthers case. When Republicans take back Congress, they need to investigate this matter fully — and not be intimidated or bullied by the CBC, NAACP, Rainbow Push Coalition, or the rest of the Race Industry into letting this matter go.

It’s clear the Justice Department is engaging in a policy and practice of refusing prosecution of black criminals who have committed crimes against whites. It would be unconscionable for the Attorney General to refuse to prosecute white criminals for attacks upon blacks. The reverse needs to be true as well — and an Attorney General who spearheads a practice of such racial discrimination needs to be removed from office.

The NBPP leader that Holder cleared of charges, Malik Shabazz, proclaims his solidarity with Osama Bin Laden. Erick believes he would make an excellent campaign issue (emphasis Admin.):

Now we have King Samir Shabazz. He showed up at a polling location in Pennsylvania and intimidated voters going into the polls. The Justice Department pursued the case and, having received a verdict it the government’s favor, Obama’s Attorney General Eric Holder stopped pursuing the New Black Panthers.

Video has subsequently come out of King Samir Shabazz encouraging the murder of white children.

Republican candidates nationwide should seize on this issue. The Democrats are giving a pass to radicals who advocate killing white kids in the name of racial justice and who try to block voters from the polls.

The Democrats will scream racism. Let them. Republicans are not going to pick up significant black support anyway. But here’s the thing: everyone but the Democrats will understand this is not racism. This isn’t even about race. This is about the judgment of an administration that would rather prosecute Arizona for doing what the feds won’t do than prosecuting violent thugs who would deny you and me the right to vote while killing our kids

This video is just one example of Washington’s cluelessness of what is happening outside the city limits of DC. They never knew the Devil would actually show up and collect, just for selling their souls for one election. Note the audience’s reponse to CA congressman Brad Sherman’s response that he’s “simply not aware of that (New Black Panther) case.”

This is why most Democrats are eschewing Town Halls, this summer…the anger and disgust with their malfeasance has reached a boiling point, and they know it.

Before the NAACP can even pass it’s resolution that the Tea Parties are raaaaacist (an obvious DNC plot to redirect attention while they steal even more) based on false and inflammatory press coverage, the Tea Party beats them to the punch with their own resolution, stating the organization is ‘bigoted,’ a ‘partisan attack dog organization,’ and urges the IRS to reexamine their tax-exempt status since they are obviously now a political organization, and no longer focus on civil rights.

Obama has personally set race relations back decades. Sending his grouchy wife to stir the pot at the NAACP convention is like throwing gas on a fire. As The Anchoress (paraphrased) says, “There is an art to good politics, and this ain’t art.” Blaming the Tea Parties for the racial schism developing in America is nothing more than projectile projecting.

More people than ever believe Obama is a socialist. A puppet controlled by union thugs. His disdain for Americans is becoming more evident every day.

Barry Obamski learned his skills well. It’s time. November is coming.

UPDATE: Linked by The Anchoress! Many thanks!

A Bright Spot in the Muck

I’m running behind, as usual. Maybe it’s the heat – it’s so oppressive. It’s hard to think, hard to process the assault of bad news.

Obama continues to underwhelm. There are so many failures at so many levels; it boggles the mind. The latest Rasmussen poll shows that 48% see the government as a threat to their individual rights.

At every turn, our system of checks and balances is being eroded. Via Instapundit (because no way the mainstream media would report something as important as this!), the Electorial College is in danger of being eliminated by legislation promoted by a California-based group, National Popular Vote. The better to steal elections with, my dear.

Now, in the middle of a difficult war, is a great time to fire a General. The ego is more important than the mission.

A federal judge sees through Obama’s smoke and mirrors and rescinds Obama’s drilling moratorium. His thanks? Death threats.

The well, that well, that looms so large in the American psyche, is just a pine needle on the green of Obama’s plan of world dominion. But oil well experts believe the well disaster is approaching Kobiyashi Maru proportions: the well may be compromised “down hole” (read the whole thing). Bad. Very bad. Very, very bad. Pray they are able to contain this monster.

Enough! Enough! I need bright spots! Bright spots, I tell you, in this muck!

Political Prevaricators, Oh Wait, That’s Redundant

The depth and breadth of bad manners is breathtaking. The last few days have brought new meaning to the old joke,

“How do you know a politician is lying?” “Their mouth is open.”

How to lie shamelessly, even on a nationally televised commercial.

Sen. Carl Levin has an attack of Tourette’s, during testimony. The Senate should have a special soap dispenser – adjustable to mouth level.

Goldman Sachs doesn’t mind taking a little heat now, because look at this pot at the end of the carbon-trading rainbow they have wrangled for themselves.

Caleb Howe points out the flow of events around the supposed mortgage collapse orchestrated by Goldman Sachs vis-a-vis their mountainous contributions to the Obama coffers.

To summarize the timeline of events Erick posted on last week: The SEC announced its charges Friday morning. At 10:38 a.m., the New York Times broke the story. 28 minutes later, Organizing for America sent out an email in President Obama’s name calling on people to support his version of “Financial Reform.”

Right after that, the New York Times published a massive hit piece on Goldman Sachs’ alleged actions during the highly publicized bursting of the housing bubble. By that afternoon, the DNC had launched a Google Ad campaign tying Goldman Sachs’ alleged wrongdoing to the need for Obama’s “Financial Reform” proposal. As Erick wrote, this is stunning – especially since (and this bears repeating ad infinite) Goldman was a top donor to the Obama campaign in 2008.

Erick and Dan both (rightly) questioned just how this series of events would have been treated by the press if this had happened during the Bush administration?

The same masters of manipulation can also certainly SIT on reports when it suits their purpose. Jill is literally sputtering with frustration over the Obama administration holding the report on Obamacare costs done by the Medicare Office of the Actuary.

As you may recall, the story was that Congress went ahead with the ram-through, declining to wait for Medicare’s Office of the Actuary’s report on the costs of the bill.

Scratch that. The report was submitted to HHS, and to the White House, at least a week before the vote. It “set off alarm bells,” and was hidden from the public.

And not one ‘public servant’ at HHS leaked anything about the report’s existence or contents. They were ‘too scared.’ Way to earn that salary.

I don’t suppose Sebelius or Obama broke any laws by hiding the report, but it’s unequivocally unethical. Sebelius, at least, should be hauled before one of those blowhard committees, sworn in, and required to disclose what she knew and when she knew it. It’s outrageous. This is the woman who’s been given enormous powers over our healthcare under the new law. And we pay her salary, too.

Add immigration to this mix, along with a compliant media, and things are bound to heat up.

Hoping and praying this isn’t true. Pete is skeptical, as is Stacy.

Obviously, Victor Hill, a.k.a. “Walking Small,” must feel emboldened by the success of the Liar in the White House, otherwise why would he be running for State Senate when he’s still under investigation?

Both Elizabeth and Neo, women whose opinions I value, feel a calm before the storm. Can it get any worse? Oh yes, much worse…

Big Surprise #2 – ObamaCare Has Race-Based Provisions

Yes, gentle readers, you read that lede correctly.

RACE-BASED PROVISIONS.

From LaShawn Barber (guesting for Michelle Malkin),

[Emphasis Admin.] Transfer of wealth and “crucial decisions” aside, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act contains provisions that provide incentives for racial discrimination. I mentioned the so-called health care bill’s racial preference provisions on the American Civil Rights Institute’s blog a while back.

One provision states that programs with “a record of training individuals who are from underrepresented minority groups or from a rural or disadvantaged background” will be given priority for government money. This is only one of several such provisions. Programs and medical institutions that practice racial preferences will be moved further up the money queue than programs and medical institutions that disregard race.

The one who disregards skin color is penalized. Hopenchange in America!

By the way, the Civil Rights Act prohibits government racial discrimination and preferences. The U.S. Commission on Civil Rights called the provisions racially discriminatory and sent President Barack Obama and Congress letters warning them about the provisions. The politicians ignored the warning, naturally.

The Commission said the inclusion of the discriminatory provisions appeared to motivated by a crusade to narrow racial health care disparities and the belief that the disparities are caused by a shortage of medical professionals who are members of preferred minority groups. Seriously.

Got that? ObamaCare discriminates based on race – directly violating The Civil Rights Act and numerous other anti-discrimination laws. Seems like a vaulted Constitutional Scholar would have caught a little snag like that. But wait, there’s more…

The Commission rightly concluded that medical institutions competing for federal dollars may end up lowering academic standards for minority applicants, and added that “race-based attempts to achieve some ill-defined ‘critical mass’ of minority students or to demonstrate a ’sufficient’ record of training such students are constitutionally suspect… As we noted in our October 9, 2009 letter, it is generally illegal for the government to show favoritism or even use classifications based on race, ethnicity, or sex.

Read the whole thing. Your blood will boil.

Saints preserve us! How many years will it take to undo the damage this foolish man and his minions are wreaking on America?

Big Surprise – Obama Pwns Stupak

Guess what didn’t get signed yesterday?

Remember that Executive Order intended to give Bart Stupak enormous peace of mind that no Federal funding would be used to pay for abortions? Darn it all, they must have run out of ink in the 22 pens used to sign the bill. Don’t you worry though, they will get around to signing it “soon.”

Yep, the EO that bought off Bart Stupak. The Daily Gator reminds Stupak that the check is in the mail, among other “descriptive terms.” Heh.

The D after Stupak’s name disables his God-given ability to know that when Obama’s mouth is open, HE’S LYING.

Chump.

While there are many tactics and strategies flying about how to replace this socialist millstone foisted on the citizen’s necks, I like John Hawkin’s idea the best – Starve the Tumor.

What does it take to fund all those government jobs, agencies, panels, & commissions? Tax dollars.

Now, who controls the purse strings? Congress. How many votes do we need via reconciliation to make budget changes? 51.

So, can we gut Obamacare by refusing to fund it?

YES.
WE.
CAN.

Is this a viable strategy? Yes, it is.

Now, what if Obama is President and we do this? He still has to sign a reconciliation bill. Will he do that? He’s certainly not going to be inclined to do it. But, if Republicans don’t back down, we’ve got a stand-off. At that point, it probably comes down to who has the American people at their back. I like those odds.

On the other hand, if we can replace Obama in 2012, then a Republican President will definitely sign off on reconciliation and we’ve eviscerated Obamacare.

Of course, the ideal is still to repeal Obamacare in its entirety — and that should be our ultimate goal. But, if we can defund it while we’re working towards that end, it’ll be like ripping the engine out of the car that drives the bill — and it’s very doable.

Very doable, indeed.

Stealin’ o’ Our Green

Yes, in honor of St. Patrick’s Day, Congress and their Fearless Reader plan to steal all our green in the form of more taxes, “health care reform,” a flagging economy, more taxes, government take-overs and did I say more taxes?

A few quick links and then I’m off to choir practice:

Desperate.

Pansy.

Foggy.

Bullies.

Jealous.

Cheat.

The American Ides of March

Figures Nancy Pelosi would pick today of all days to begin her ruination of America.

Jennifer Rubin:

In short, the cost-containment problem (otherwise we’ll bankrupt ourselves, the president once threatened) is made worse, dramatically so, by the bill. And when we add on “a range of job-killing tax hikes and controls on all Americans,” you have a truly destructive, ill-conceived piece of legislation. If members think hard about that, rather than the arm-twisting and bravado from the White House, what the leadership is up to will become apparent. They are not, it seems, in the business of passing anything remotely resembling “reform.” They are rather attempting to avoid humiliation and prevent a tidal wave of rage from their liberal base.

They are so desperate to pass something, anything, that the government takeover of student loans (a hot topic at our house right now) is now included in the monstrous bill.

Ed Morrissey spoke at the Kill the Bill Rally in Minnesota (read the whole thing!):

Not only is this bill too radical for the American people, it’s too radical for even some Democrats in Congress. But that has not convinced Pelosi and Obama to withdraw it, or to start working with opponents to find some common-sense compromises to reform the cost structure of health care in America. Instead, Nancy Pelosi has decided to attack the structure of representative government by attempting to pass the Senate version of ObamaCare without a floor vote in the House. That’s how desperate the nanny-staters are to defy you and saddle America with a government overhaul of our health care system that we don’t want.

It’s gotten so bad that the NYT is not even bothering to hide their slobbering adoration of The One.

And please, don’t say it’s like watching sausage being made. Sausages everywhere are insulted by the comparison.

This whole Pelosi procedure is nothing but a thumb in the eye of the Constitution. The House could merely have an up-or-down vote on the Senate version of the bill, but Pelosi doesn’t have enough votes to do that – she’d lose the votes of several Democrats who have principled objections to various measures in the Senate version — and so instead they’re going through this bizarre kabuki dance.

Stop. Breathe. Think. Pray. As The Anchoress calmly reminds us

Consider that John Paul spent a good part of his papacy repeating these four words over, and over: Do not be afraid.

[…] It is the most basic -and challenging- of all lessons; and we had better learn it, soon, or we will fret ourselves into sick despair and spiritual weakness, at a time when we need to be very, very strong.

Yes, indeed. We need all our strength, physical and spiritual, to fight this godforsaken tyranny.
