Sick. Just sick.

Pam Geller got this in her email yesterday.

Sick. Just sick.

Which Is Worse?

Giving a reigning monarch an iPod full of your speeches or talking over her own personal anthem? Could it be that he’s jealous? Where’s that court composer when you need him?

What type of host leaves while there’s a guest in the house? Granted, the WH didn’t give the Israeli Prime Minister the Dalai Lama treatment, but Obama was obviously less than pleased that Bibi didn’t just roll over and take the slap he landed for his BFFs, Hamas. But Netanyahu managed something that His Wonness doesn’t seem to be able to attain – a connection and the ability to remind America who we are, where we came from, who our friends are. Maybe it’s because Obama runs with a different crowd. Even his own party is beginning to turn on him. This “new” Israel policy foolishness may be the change of the tide, where those who drank the kool-aid begin to see what we’ve seen all along.

Yesterday was the perfect juxtaposition of two leaders – one a studied statesman, one a vain politician.

Add to that the high marks received by Bibi Netanyahu for his speech to Congress, WrongDateGate and The Obumbler has had a less than stellar week. Or as Gerard quips, “Now the scar on the side of his head begins to make sense.”

Quote of the Day

Mark Steyn on Obama’s speech about himself Israel:

Well, at a certain level, it was filled with the usual narcissism. He said that America had failed to speak to the broader aspirations of people in the Middle East, and that’s why two years ago in Cairo, “I began to broaden our engagement.” I was interested to see the result of that. In 2008, which you’ll recall was the last year of the Bush, Texas cowboy terror, 83% of Arabs had a very or somewhat negative view of the United States. By 2010, which was the second year of the Obama broaden engagement approach, 85% had a very or somewhat negative view. So much for the outreach. The fact is that this narcissistic buffoon gave this speech that placed himself front and center of developments in the Middle East. And in fact, the United States, for the first time in 70 years, is utterly irrelevant to what’s going on in the Middle East.

Jerusalem Post Points Out Obama’s Incompetency; Crickets Chirp in American Newsrooms

What else do you expect? The LSM in America is state run; you’ll rarely, if ever, read a dissenting opinion about The Won. Pravda, but with Nordstrom ads.

Caroline Glick at The Jerusalem Post points out Obama’s glaring inconsistencies in Middle Eastern policy. Just read the whole thing, I’ll wait.

Back now? Let’s reiterate:

Most of Obama’s administration has proven their incompetence, irrationality, arrogance and uncouthness, time and time again. US Ambassador to the UN Susan Rice and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton are no exception. Why vote to veto Lebanon’s lengthy resolution on Jewish property rights, then condemn your action in so vetoing?

Perhaps in the UN this is normal behavior, but isn’t arguing with yourself, especially in public, a surefire for the men in white coats to pay a visit, restrain you and then cart you off to a padded room?

(All the below emphasis is mine)

BUT BEYOND the basic falseness of Rice’s statement, her condemnation of her own vote to veto the resolution, and Clinton’s similar statements, serve to send a series of messages to the states in the region that are devastating to US regional posture.

Obama is sticking to his plan of weakening America, both domestically and abroad. He doesn’t understand (or either secretly supports) that Palestinians learned long ago that the best way to fight Israel is not in the streets, but internationally.

To advance this aim, the Palestinians seek to isolate Israel internationally by criminalizing it in international arenas. The Palestinians have made intense use of all UN bodies to achieve their goal. With automatic majorities in nearly every UN body, the most obvious impediment to the Palestinians’ bid to criminalize Israel and thus bring about its international isolation is the US’s Security Council veto.

Since the Palestinians first began using the UN to criminalize Israel in the 1970s, it has been the consistent policy of all US administrations to use the Security Council veto to either vote down anti-Israel initiatives or remove them from the agenda by threatening to veto them.

Until now. The cunning Palestinians saw their opportunity in Obama. And they used him to further their agenda of destroying Israel.

Friday’s vote was months in the making and it was clearly inspired by the Obama administration’s own policies.

Since entering office, the president has been outspoken in his view that Jews must be denied their property rights in Jerusalem neighborhoods outside the 1949 armistice lines, and in Judea and Samaria. Obama has repeatedly plunged US-Israel relations into crisis with his unprecedented demand that the Netanyahu government adopt his discriminatory policies and deny Jews the right to their property in these areas.

Obama’s obsession with barring Jewish property rights provided the Palestinians with the opening to undermine US support for Israel at the Security Council. By putting forward a resolution condemning Israel for upholding Jewish property rights, the Palestinians forced Obama to choose between his principles and the US alliance with Israel.

As the Palestinians rightly saw things, the resolution put them in a win-win situation. Had he allowed the resolution to pass, Obama would have given the Palestinians a strategic victory. If he vetoed the resolution, he would be decried as a hypocrite and thus provide the Palestinians with new justification for refusing to participate in US-mediated negotiations with Israel. Since their goal is to delegitimize Israel, the Palestinians have no interest in negotiating a peace deal with its government.

This scenario sends some disturbing messages from the US to the world at large and the Middle East in particular:

First, it signaled that it is deeply unserious.

Second, it signaled to the Palestinians that, while blocked by popular US support for Israel from joining them, the administration supports the PA’s political war against Israel. That is, Obama told the Palestinians to continue this war against Israel.

Third, the administration told Israel – and all its other allies – that in the era of Obama, the US is not a credible ally. Not only does this message weaken America’s allies, it emboldens the likes of Iran and Syria and the Muslim Brotherhood who are increasingly convinced that the US will not stand by its allies in a pinch.

Finally, by standing by as Abbas pushed forward with the resolution despite Obama’s repeatedly stated opposition, the president showed all actors in the region that there is no price to be paid for defying the US. Obama did not announce that he is ending US financial support for Fatah. He did not state that the US is ending its training of the Fatah forces. Instead, he sent Rice before the cameras to tell the world that he agrees with the Palestinians, who just slapped him in the face.

Most Americans wonder how a sitting President can turn his back on Israel, one of America’s staunchest allies. The answer is clear.

The question is why is the administration behaving this way? The obvious answer is that it really does side with the Arabs against Israel. Pushing this view is the fact that since taking office, Obama has been consistently hostile to Israel and its strategic interests.

There is another possible explanation, however: That the administration is simply too incompetent to understand the significance of its actions. This explanation appears increasingly credible in light of the US’s ham-fisted handling of the revolutions raging throughout the Arab world.

And where is the American media on this? Like all things, if it casts their god in a bad light, they won’t touch it.

Obama’s Big Stinkers

Sorry for the redundant title. I am cognitively impaired.

Three years at CPAC and I avoided the dreaded sickness. Until now. Still recovering from the CPAC Plague (even Moe Lane has it), so the non-existent posting of the last few days will continue unabated.

In the meantime, feast your eyes on our anti-American President’s anti-American actions the last few days.

Obama meddles in the Wisconsin situation and Speaker Boehner calls him out. Obama’s reelection thugs machine, Organizing For America is a big presence there. More on Wisconsin, and the AWOL legislators later.

Obama slaps Israel, again.

– While we’re back to cutting coupons, less gourmet/more frontier-like dinners and no more eating out, Michelle Obama gets a ski vacation in Vail.

Okay, so that last one was about Marie Antoinette FLOTUS not POTUS. Cut me a break, I’m sick.

Right on Schedule

The death threats against Sarah Palin have increased, significantly. Golly gee, you could have set your watch on it.

It’s all imploding on the loony left, and they know it. The truth will always be brought to light and they, being the despisers of truth, are learning that lesson in a hard way.

No, there is nothing useful to be gained by such finger-pointing and scapegoating. Rather, we need only point out the admonition of the old hymn that reminds us that if we step off the Solid Rock, “all other ground is sinking sand.” Truth endures, and facts are stubborn things.

Remember who, above all, has coursened the conversation.

Having used divisiveness to push through Obamacare and other expansions of government, Obama now wants everyone to come together and lower the volume.

That’s fine. But it should not affect our policy goals one iota, or the vigor with which we seek to roll back some of the mistakes of the past two years.

And in a somewhat delightful surprise, Palin gets a defender from an unlikely corner.

He [Alan-Dershowitz] showed more guts than many in the republican establishment in defending Palin. Republican party has stayed largely silent when an innocent woman was being tarnished. It speaks volumes to me.

The Tehran airport was built back in the 1970’s. The Israeli engineers left a calling card. Heh. In reality, Iran and Israel were more neighborly before the Islamic Revolution in 1979.

Happy Hanukkah!

A Computer Worm, a Biblical Code, the Unseen Hand?

This first blipped up on my radar a few days ago. With my background in security, I thought it was interesting and a little spooky. Not a DOS attack, but something different… targeting specific machinery and computers related to the Iranian nuclear development projects.

A computer virus that attacks an industrial system widely used by Iran could be the first real instance of “cyberwar”, western experts have revealed.

Kevin Hogan, senior director of security response at computer security giant Symantec, said 60 per cent of computers worldwide infected by the Stuxnet worm were in Iran, suggesting its industry was the target.”

Details began to trickle out on Stuxnet. No call-backs (its creator didn’t want to see the results? See UPDATE below. There was returned information for a time.) … hmmm. Seems the code itself has some interesting naming conventions, with allusions to Queen Esther and Persia. Now remember Iran now was Persia then. And they hated Jews just as much then as now.

Yid with Lid gives us our Sunday School lesson refresher:

Deep inside the computer worm that some specialists suspect is aimed at slowing Iran’s race for a nuclear weapon lies what could be a fleeting reference to the Book of Esther, the Old Testament narrative in which the Jews pre-empt a Persian plot to destroy them.

That use of the word “Myrtus” — which can be read as an allusion to Esther — to name a file inside the code is one of several murky clues that have emerged as computer experts try to trace the origin and purpose of the rogue Stuxnet program, which seeks out a specific kind of command module for industrial equipment. [NYT]

In the Biblical Story of Esther, the vizier to the Persian king tries to destroy the Jewish people, in the end he is defeated by a Jewess named Esther who becomes queen of Persia and her uncle Mordecai. Since Iran is the modern day Persia, and the computer virus is meant to stop the destruction of the Jewish People, could this be a message from God, from Israel, something put in just to confuse or maybe something put in the virus just to make the paranoid Iranians even more nervous.

God’s hand is everywhere, even when we can’t see what is unfolding around us. He can use the tiniest computer bug just as mightily as a brave young woman to defeat the darkest evil on Earth.

Here, do your homework. Look for more clues and be vigilante.

UPDATE: There’s more

A reference (uncovered by Symantec) to May 9, 1979, the date of the execution of a prominant Iranian Jew by the new Iranian regime.

Jonathan Last’s excellent outline of the worm at Weekly Standard. RTWT to be prepared as more information becomes available in the weeks to come.

Zero-day parameters? Wait, four zero-day parms? Trojanized rootkit? Stolen digital signatures?

Correction to above – there was call-back reporting for a time.

Stuxnet was not designed to spread over the Internet at large. (We think.) It was, however, able to spread over local networks—primarily by using the print spooler that runs printers shared by a group of computers. And once it reached a computer with access to the Internet it began communicating with a command-and-control server—the Stuxnet mothership. The C&C servers were located in Denmark and Malaysia and were taken off-line after they were discovered. But while they were operational, Stuxnet would contact them to deliver information it had gathered about the system it had invaded and to request updated versions of itself. You see, the worm’s programmers had also devised a peer-to-peer sharing system by which a Stuxnet machine in contact with C&C would download newer versions of itself and then use it to update the older worms on the network.

And during it’s travels, instead of causing general mayhem, the worm is looking for something specific.

“It’s looking for specific things in specific places in these PLC devices,” Digital Bond CEO Dale Peterson told PC World. “And that would really mean that it’s designed to look for a specific plant.” Tofino Security Chief Technology Officer Eric Byres was even more ominous, saying, “The only thing I can say is that it is something designed to go bang.” Even the worm’s code suggests calamity. Ralph Langner is the most prominent Stuxnet sleuth and he notes that one of the last bits of code in the worm is the line “DEADF007.” (Presumably a dark joke about “deadf*ckers” and the James Bond call-sign “007.”) “After the original code is no longer executed, we can expect that something will blow up soon,” Langner says somewhat dramatically. “Something big.”

Things go boom?

Happy Passover, Y’all

Gleefully swiped from Moe Lane at RedState, who declared it Pure Awesome. I agree wholeheartedly!

Next year in Jerusalem and WITHOUT Obama. Happy Passover, y’all!
