The Obama Overreach

Cartoon by William Warren

So thankful I no longer have small children. Dear Leader wants to interrupt the school day to start his indoctrination program. Stephen Green says, “Keep ’em at home next Tuesday.” A parent’s first job is to protect their children, especially if it’s from an overreaching administration. Like every other cautious parent, I’d like to know WHAT he plans to say BEFORE he says it and then I’d decide whether to let my child participate. Why take the time out of the third movie of the week precious instruction time? Just pass out autographed copies of Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals with a homework guide and/or coloring sheet.

Mom Michelle Malkin is steamed:

Downplaying academic achievement in favor of left-wing radical activism in the public schools is rooted in old neighborhood pal and Weather Underground terrorist Bill Ayers’ pedagogical philosophy.

In typical Obama fashion, things on the internet change and change again. After all, he promised us all CHANGE, didn’t he? Now (big surprise?) the teacher’s aid materials are being whitewashed.

The White House has re-written its activist talking points for teachers/administrators disseminated by the US Department of Education and removed the language about “helping the president.”

But there’s more (h/t Fausta)…much more. One of Barack’s own websites stepped over a line when it called conservative Americans “…mobs, Nazis and Fascists…Al Qaeda terrorists.” Read it yourself. And note that The Foundry got a screen shot of the offensive page before, again, it was scrubbed. Change, change, change we can all believe in! Why is it when I go to a rally with a homemade sign, I’m astroturfing, but when Obama busses in loads of thugs to shout me down and beat me up, it’s a grassroots movement? Change, baby, change.

But wait… there’s more. Doug Ross has an excellent expose on a recent White House RFQ to technology vendors to harvest vast amounts of personal information (quoting NLPC):

NLPC has uncovered a plan by the White House New Media operation to hire a technology vendor to conduct a massive, secret effort to harvest personal information on millions of Americans from social networking websites… The targeted sites include Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, YouTube, Flickr and others – any space where the White House “maintains a presence.”

It’s like Fishy-Email-Gate’s big brother, Guido, on steriods. Read the complete RFQ here. Amazing that an administration headed by a Intergalactic Constitutional Scholar wouldn’t know that this is yet another in a series of illegal acts.

Or as Doug put it so well, “Obama makes Nixon look like a rank amateur.”

UPDATE: Not sure about the whole school, but at least the boy’s class didn’t watch The Speech.

My son is a junior in HS, so I’ anxious to talk with him tonight about the speech. He first had resisted watching it so I was going to sign the “Opt Out” form. Then he agreed to be my “spy” and perhaps be a conservative voice of reasonfor any kids who aren’t brainwashed Obamabots, should the speech have taken a socialist turn (which now appears that it didn’t, thanks to conservatives and parents protesting).

A day later, in typical 16-year-old fashion, he changed his mind and decided he was going to go all “hyped-up political statement-like” and storm out of the classroom when Obama was on the telly. I think I talked him out of that, so he said he’d instead have a looooooong bathroom emergency so he could leave without being in trouble. Crikey, he’s bounced all around on this, so no telling what he’ll ultimately decide. All I know is he was raised with free market principles, conservative values, love of country, love of knowledge, love of God, so the kid won’t be indoctrinated but rather, will be ANNOYED at The One’s speech.
