Henry Gates: Another Artful Distraction

Thomas Sowell has an outstanding article on Obama and the “Post-Racial President.” Read it all.

Those who were shocked at President Obama’s cheap shot at the Cambridge police for being “stupid” in arresting Henry Louis Gates must have been among those who let their wishes prevail over the obvious implications of Obama’s 20 years of association with the Reverend Jeremiah Wright. Anyone who can believe that Obama did not understand what the racist rants of Jeremiah Wright meant can believe anything.

With race– as with campaign finance, transparency and the rest– Barack Obama knows what the public wants to hear and that is what he has said. But his policies as president have been the opposite of his rhetoric, with race as with other issues.

Remember, when he was elected, he was hailed as a new messiah and would usher in a new enlightened age of bi-partisan cooperation, multi-cultural tolerance and cosmic karma for all. So far, he has acted and enacted exactly the opposite of the many, many, many things he promised during the never-ending campaign.

Kelly King, of the Cambridge Police Department voiced her opinion convincingly – she voted for him once, but not again. The President, this President, any President, should restrain from inserting himself into local matters. Especially if they involve a personal friend. Especially if that friend always has his handy Race Axe ready to grind. IMHO, Obama had already set the race discussion back a few generations since his election. This latest snafu has only made it worse.

Or was it a snafu? Could it have been convenient moment, when presented, that afforded Obama a golden chance for another smoke-screen that would distract the American public from what is going on under the covers in his administration? A tricky way to get his healthcare trojan horse passed under the nose of the unsuspected rabble.

Watch closely: the next thing you know, Henry Gates will have a new job – as Obama’s speech writer.

UPDATE: As usual, Gerard artfully outdoes us all. (Warning – contains words you don’t want your kids to ask you what they mean. So there.)

The more I learn about Gates, the smarmier he gets. I think the man has a complete lack of integrity. Did you hear that Wendy Murphy, the attorney for the woman who made the phone call, said that Gates asked the police: “you would believe a white woman or a black man?” That’s just despicable. I believe Gates had plenty to say that we are not being told about.

I just hate that Sgt. Crowley is going to the White House. It’s a no-win situation for him.

Obi’s Sister, you’ve been ambushed because you are one of my most admired bloggers 🙂

Thank you for your kind words.

I agree – Crowley will get his own kind of ambush if he goes to the White House. Definitely a no-win situation for him.
