Happy Halloween!

Presented for your viewing displeasure… An irreverent round-up of growling goblin gooneries …

How to create a fiendish fiery pumpkin head. Pray do not confuse this activity with the exploding-turkey-fryer. That, gentle reader, is a topic for another holiday.

Poe’s The Tell-Tale Heart is always good for a scare on a dark and dreary night…skull with candle

Presently I heard a slight groan, and I knew it was the groan of mortal terror. It was not a groan of pain or of grief — oh, no! — it was the low stifled sound that arises from the bottom of the soul when overcharged with awe. I knew the sound well. Many a night, just at midnight, when all the world slept, it has welled up from my own bosom, deepening, with its dreadful echo, the terrors that distracted me. I say I knew it well….

Or are vampires more to your liking?

She lives beyond the grace of God, a wanderer in the outer darkness. She is “vampyr”, “nosferatu”. These creatures do not die like the bee after the first sting, but instead grow strong and become immortal once infected by another nosferatu. So, my friends we fight not one beast but legions that go on age after age after age, feeding on the blood of the living. (Van Helsing/ Bram Stoker’s Dracula)

Oh, and Spike… Spike. Spike. Spike. SPIKE. We mustn’t forget dishy and deee-lishy Spike.

A little Freeze-Off-That-Wart medicine should do nicely, my little pretty.

Thank you, Thank you very much.

Beccy Cole, an Aussie songster, GETS IT. Listen to her “Poster Girl” a couple of times, and you’ll be ready to head Down Under. (h/t BlackFive)

Too bad the Dixie Chicks won’t take a page out of her play book. Sadly, they’ve started their victim tour of the talk shows. Doug Ross outlines the long list of atrocities and social snubs.

It reminds me of Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn having to smuggle The Gulag Archipelago out of the Soviet Union after serving ten years in a concentration camp.

It’s all Bush’s fault, you know. They’ve been silienced, America is against them…..blah blah blah. Welcome to grown-ups-ville, Natalie. Stop whining.

Like I said before here and here , Natalie honey, you don’t s%*# where you eat.

Castro Death Watch

Office of the Inquistor

Siggy had an excellent post yesterday covering a wide range of Islamic topics that I think boil down to just this:

In what is a strange turn of events, it is the radical Muslims and leftists that have become the Crusaders, using religion and culture as a justification for all kinds of evil perpetrated in the name of their beliefs. They have their own Office of the Inquisition, where all who do not agree are subject to all kinds of punishment. Disagree, hold to your own beliefs and you are subject to death.

Oh, and this too…

It is now radical Islam and the Left that have become repressive and oppressive. It is now radical Islam and the Left that demand uniformity and demand that self expression be expunged- unless it is approved self expression.

The god of radical Islam and the left refused to allow God to look out after his own interests. They, and they alone, would speak for God- as if He needed their help- and agenda, in defining what was moral and just.

And don’t forget this point…

In fact, radical Islam and the Left are bound and determined to kill God. They cannot be satisfied coexisting with believers, because believers will always challenge their moral emptiness. Unlike radical Muslims and Leftists, Christians, Jew and Buddhists do not lose any sleep because they worship differently.

Dammit, just read the whole thing. It’s outstanding and right on the nose!

WorldNetDaily has an article by Craige McMillan on a nationwide dhimmitude survey that is going to take place.

You probably didn’t know it, but in less than two weeks the United States is conducting a nationwide poll on dhimmitude. This will be a very large sample of likely voters. In fact, it will be everyone who votes, legally or not.

You may not see the term dhimmitude printed on your ballot, but rest assured – it is there. […]

That’s true. But you can look for its abbreviation after the various candidate names. With only a handful of exceptions it shows up as a “D” after the candidates name. And while it is true that a few “moderate” (mediaspeak for liberal) Republicans support the dhimmitude agenda, the only Democrat senator I know of who supports a vigorous resistance to dhimmitude is Joe Lieberman. Oops – he’s running as an Independent. His party booted him out in the primary election and embraced the dhimmitude “D” candidate.

What they (the Left and Islamic extremists) just don’t get is

Iraq was invaded to destabilize the Islamic terrorist regimes around it with a democratically elected government, greater rights for women and economic hope (all an anathema to Islamic theocracies). Our government believed it was preferable to engage the terrorists on their own soil, as opposed to our shopping malls, sports stadiums, public schools and Starbucks coffee shops. Perhaps the war should be judged on how many of the latter have experienced terrorist bombings.

Both are stuck in “Rewind”. Rewind to Pre-Reagan. Rewind to the Dark Ages. Both are focused on WINNING, WINNING, WINNING and that’s all. Over at CQ is just one example of the complete lack of integrity regarding his pal Pam Wolfe, who is running for State Senate in Minnesota. It’s an amazing testimony of the appalling depths the Left will wallow in.

Rather than debate actual issues, the Democratic Party (called the DFL in Minnesota) spent their time digging through Pam’s divorce records and cobbled together a string of ludicrous charges onto a full-color flyer they have dropped all over SD-51.

Ms. Wolfe’s rebuts with concrete facts, but then goes further

The real question is, who publicizes the most agonizing incidents in someone’s life for their own political gain? Who would stoop so low as to dredge up a family’s most painful memories and display them like a trophy? How low will they go?

Good question, Pam. Why? WHY?

Gators Eat Boogers

Ok, you Rowdy Redcoats out there, let’s sing the song….

Ga-tors, Ga-tors, how’djah like to bite my a**, Ga-tors, Ga-tors, how’djah like to bite it twice…

You know the rest… 🙂

For questions on the UF-UGA contest etiquette, see The Fraternal Order of the Anti-Orange Establishment’s Gator Guide. Man, it’s the most fun you’ll ever have, unless, of course, you go get to Bourbon St. for a Sugar Bowl weekend.

Now with Larry moaning like he’s got the world’s biggest hemorrhoid, and the line being UF +14, and everybody more in a snit about WHAT to call the game than our offensive line being all beat up and having to start a freshman quarterback….it may look like a dark day for the Dawgs. But even if the Dawgs do lose, one universal truth remains unchanged….

Gators Eat Boogers

It’s Great – To Be – A Gator Hater! It’s Great – To Be – A Gator Hater! It’s Great – To Be – A Gator Hater! Go Dawgs!

Amen Brother and God Bless Coach Richt.

Teddy, now Honey, you’ve disgraced the family yet AGAIN

This just scares the pants off me…

Teddy Kennedy collaborated with the Soviets during the Cold War on several occasions to further his own political career. What is WRONG with the people of Massachusetts that this seditious traitor continues to be reelected??!?!?! Someone who has actively participated in subversion against the standing government that he works for! I say bury him UNDER the jail….

Among its most sensational aspects is a section detailing the domestic opposition to Reagan’s campaign for re-election in 1984 … Specifically, [Dr. Paul] Kengor includes what is purported to be a translated memo from the KGB archives, dated May 14, 1983, that describes an offer made to the KGB on behalf of Sen. Edward M. Kennedy (D-MA) by former Senator John Tunney (D-CA), a fellow Democrat and close friend of Kennedy’s.

According to the document, Sen. Kennedy offered to help the Soviet leadership mount a media public relations campaign in the United States that would do two things. First, it would convince the American people that the Soviets intended peaceful co-existence with us. Second, it would undermine President Reagan’s efforts to deploy the Pershing IIs and build the Strategic Defense Initiative as well as undermining his national security stances and strategy on a broad basis, which in turn would dent Reagan’s campaign to be re-elected in 1984. In short, Sen. Kennedy was offering to work with USSR General Secretary Yuri Andropov against the President of the United States.

[…] Outside the Sebastian article and Kengor’s book, there is independent confirmation that Sen. Kennedy made yet another overture to the Soviets. In 2002, the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, chaired by former Sen. Lee Hamilton (D-IN) and which can hardly be regarded as a Republican shill, published Working Paper #40. That paper is online at this link, and contains about a dozen references to Sen. Kennedy. On page 167 it refers to Kennedy’s intent to work with the Soviets to free the hostages in Tehran–in order to bolster Kennedy’s prospects against President Jimmy Carter, against whom Kennedy was running for the Democrat nomination for president in 1980. Kennedy was also hoping to work with the Soviet leadership to keep detente on track, even as Carter was castigating the USSR for its invasion of Afghanistan. Working Paper #40 goes into some detail about Kennedy’s efforts against President Carter’s anti-Soviet policies in 1980. As in the 1983 overture, Kennedy enlisted Tunney to be his agent in Moscow against a sitting US president’s foreign policy. Taken together, it seems that Sen. Kennedy was equally ready to undermine a Democrat or Republican president.

Stuck on Stupid bets “Harry Reid will call him on this.” Hmmph.

[quoting CNS ] At one point after President Reagan left office, Tunney acknowledged that he had played the role of intermediary, not only for Kennedy but for other U.S. senators, Kengor said. Moreover, Tunney told the London Times that he had made 15 separate trips to Moscow.

15 trips?!?!? CNS has more.

Some sites say this is a “shocking revelation”. I say Jack and Robert are spinning in their graves.

The California Mufti

Did you know that California had a mufti? Neither did I. Read on…..

Stephen Schwartz writes a must read on Family Security Matters (h/t Religion of Peace). In “Is California an Islamic Republic?” he writes about a self-proclaimed mufti in California. A radical Muslim, conveniently posing as a moderate Sufi, beginning around 9/11/2001. Even better is how Schwartz outlines, in plain English, just part of the the divergence between moderate and radical Islam. It’s basic, but it’s what every American needs to hear.

Is California an Islamic republic, with sharia courts and a state-recognized mufti? Of course not.

Does Hamza Yusuf Hanson, a poseur living in California, fantasize that such a reality will come about?

Of course. Even in his alleged Sufi incarnation, Hamza Yusuf Hanson propagandizes for the Islamization of America.

Is “Islamic America” a mainstream Muslim principle? Of course not. Moderate Muslims long ago accepted that the West is ruled by non-Muslims, and that Muslims who emigrate to the West have to accept that fact. All religious believers are proud of their faith, and many engage in proselytism. But none except radical Muslims propose a wholesale transformation of Western religious life. Mormons actively seek new members but do not proclaim that some day soon the world, or even America , will be Mormon; nor do Jehovah’s Witnesses, or Christian Scientists. Nor, most important, do Catholics and Protestants, who are the leading communities in America , and who certainly accept converts. Nor do Buddhists, who are widely approached by religious seekers. Born-again Christians do not declare that all Americans must some day join their particular denominations. Jews do not proselytize at all.

It is one thing to argue that one’s religion is the sure path to paradise. It is quite another to argue that one’s faith is the sole basis for good governance on earth, or that its law should soon prevail in a country where it now represents a small, mainly-immigrant minority. Normal Muslims, aside from the ignorant and gullible, consider such views madness.

It is neither a mainstream nor a moderate Muslim position to claim, as Hamza Yusuf’s chief deputy, an individual named Ziad Shakir, did as recently as June 18, 2006, in the pages of The New York Times: “ ‘Every Muslim who is honest would say, I would like to see America become a Muslim country,’ he said.” That means the great majority of Muslims, according to Hanson and his cohort, are dishonest, because they, from Bosnia to Borneo and from Algeria to Zanzibar, accept the non-Muslim religious identity of the West.

Another way to tell is that they are all part of The Big Lie. My education in things Islamic continues….

A dear friend of mine has a male friend who is Muslim. She says that in light of our current environment, over the years they have had many discussions on his religion and her’s as well. He is a kind and spiritual person. And he disagrees with the radical positions that are trumpeted by the MSM. I read somewhere that many moderate Muslims are afraid to speak out against the aberration of radical Islam. Many feel or have actually been threatened. Many moved West to escape the oppression in their native lands. To be able to practice the Islam they know and love (a little “freedom of religion” music swell here) without fear of persecution or reprisal. They are the hope within Islam. And I hope they can rise up and help their radical brothers see how they have bastardized their mutual religion for their own gain. Without them, Islam is lost.

Don’t even think about kissing MY baby!

Stinkin’ politicians. It all makes you want to take a bath. And don’t you go trying to kiss my baby or hand out emery boards around me; telling me you knew my momma back in the day and what a fine woman she is. Creep. Go away.

David Zucker has produced a hilarious ad illustrating Democrats & Tax Increases. It’s quite funny, but could also be frighteningly true all too soon. Men in Black, stealing money from babies, singing the Winkie soldier song from Oz as they come to confiscate everything of value from your life.

The Anchoress has written a funny script for a GOP ad she’d like to see. MJ Fox is confusing the stem cell debate for alot of people, just to pull a few votes for Democratic pals. Bethany (isn’t she cute? Smart, too!) over at HotAir takes on politicians who briefly darken church doors to trawl for votes.

“Modern day evangelicals expect more of their politicians than just church appearances. They expect integrity, character and consistency…above reproach and represent a contrast to perceived moral and ethical deficiencies in the political arena today…accountable for their actions in Washington and in their home district”

Hmmmm…a pretty tall order, you say? For most, yes it is.

Michelle Malkin has a very interesting post on “Word Association: I say Democrat, you say…” quoting a report at the Jihadist Sniper News Network (CNN, for those that haven’t been paying attention the last few days):

There is a reason Democrats are on edge. They have lost so many elections where it seemed they were running with the wind, the phenomenon is known in political circles as Democrats “embracing their inner-defeatest.”

[…] CNN asked self-identified Democrats around Miami, Chicago and Los Angeles how they view their party. It was word association, “I say Democrat, You say –.” Not scientific, but instructive.

Here is some of what we heard:

• “Disorganized”
• “Afraid to take a stand”
• “Not giving us anything better to look at”
• “A little soft”

I’m surprised CNN even aired that segment. It doesn’t fit into their agenda of “The Election is Already Won”.

Found this one through Drudge somehow – it’s an outline of how ABC plans to spin the final days before the election. A few gems:

2. Look at every attempt by the President to define the race on his terms as deluded and desperate; increasingly quote Republican strategists saying that the President is hurting the party whenever he enters the fray.

4. Imbue every Democratic candidate for whom Bill Clinton campaigns with a golden halo.
5. Paint groups that run ads or do turnout for Republican candidates as shadowy, extreme, corrupt, and illegitimate; describe their analogues on the left as valiant underdogs, part of a People’s Army (with homage to Rich Lowry).

Media bias? NNNaaaaayyyyh…..

The Democrats (and the Media) will politicize ANYTHING to win. Rush’s point about MJF is well taken (emphasis mine):

Then you bring forth a person who’s suffering the disease, and you illustrate the disease and the ravages and the suffering on TV to create sympathy and infallibility, because you’re not supposed to be able to attack somebody or criticize somebody in any way or in any regard if they suffer from the disease. It’s considered cold-hearted and cruel. What’s happening here is that Michael Fox has entered the political arena with his attack, which includes false information about Senator Talent and Michael Steele in Maryland. That’s fair game, and I am not going to follow the script that says we’re not allowed to comment on the things said by participants, “victims,” what have you, that the Democrats put forth as infallible in the middle of a political campaign.

I would argue that Mr. Fox is damaging what has traditionally been a bipartisan effort at addressing and curing illnesses, and that is the primary point here. Democrats are politicizing diseases and illnesses. The Breck Girl, John Edwards, promising, if John Kerry is elected, that Christopher Reeve and others with spinal paralysis would walk, when there’s no such is evidence that any research into embryonic stem cells will create any immediate cure toward anything. It is irresponsible to mislead victims of people suffering from these horrible diseases in such a fashion. But that’s exactly what has happened.

That’s what the Democrats are doing, politicizing diseases and illnesses, damaging what has traditionally been a bipartisan effort at addressing and curing illnesses, and the same time they claim if you don’t embrace their political and cultural agenda, then you’re for Parkinson’s disease, and you are for spinal paralysis. It’s no different than the way they do it in the environmental movement. They talk about dirty water and dirty air, and if you oppose the environmentalists, why, you must be for dirty water and dirty air! You don’t want clean water and clean air, and this is a script that they have written for years. Senate Democrats used to parade victims of various diseases or social concerns or poverty up before congressional committees and let them testify, and they were infallible. You couldn’t criticize them.

Sadly, MJF most certainly has been used by the shameless Democrats. Just like Christopher Reeve, who I adored. I remember crying and shrieking at the TV when I saw that ad – HOW dare they!! While they both are/were big boys and can/could take care of themselves, perhaps they should have asked a few more questions before jumping into a political ad. It rarely turns out well.

GatewayPundit has the video of a rebuttal ad “Missouri Don’t be Fooled” making the rounds. Isn’t Missouri the “Show Me State?” Well, this ad is showing them the truth.

But, the McCaskill people did not intend to see this… a Kurt Warner ad!
Kurt Warner is possibly the most trusted celebrity in the state. Not only because he led the Super Bowl winning Rams team but because of his humble background and strong Christian faith.

The McCaskill Campaign did not expect to see him in an Anti-Amendment 2 ad.
This ad is also devastating because it makes it so clear that McCaskill is not in touch with the state. Michael J. Fox, who is suffering terribly, is not a Missourian, after all…

Their minions in the MSM have alot to lose in this election as well. Bloggers have been exposing the spin to this election and every word that spews from our TV sets. The Blogs are getting more exposure, more people are reading and listening and following issues and actually THINKING for THEMSELVES. And the MSM is afraid. Very afraid. John Podhoretz at the NYPost writes:

If the bloggers get it right this time, this really will be yet another crisis point for Mainstream Media Time – a point at which their most loyal consumers will be compelled to wonder why they’re bothering to pay attention to writers and editors whose sense of America is so completely out of whack. Especially if there is another force out there that ate the mainstream media’s lunch.

If, however, the bloggers are getting it wrong, this will be the first major blow in their wildly successful rush this decade to dominate the way political news is made, reported and consumed.

And if the blogs are wrong, it will be ok. We don’t have so far to fall because we haven’t squandered centuries of good-will and credibility. We’ll just dust our jammies off and start again the next day.

14 Days

Like any Little League coach will tell you, going into a game brimming with over-confidence is a sure-fire way to lose the game.

Let’s see – have the Democrats put forth any REAL issues during the 2006 campaign? [UPDATE: Dr. Sanity has a very excellent post on this exact subject!] Take a look at what they think is important:

The Media Socialist Mouthpiece, better known as the Main Stream Media, trumpets daily that the election is already won by the Democrats. They project the number of seats in jeopardy. They poll and re-poll. Change the questions just a smidge to get the results they want, instead of a true survey. They interview talking heads, hoodwinking experts. For every conservative view that is expressed, they counter with 10 liberals. They show videos of questionable origin, just to obscure that good things ARE happening and progress is being made (sorry, that just doesn’t fit into their agenda!). Bela Pelosi is trawling for office space. Various players are jockeying for tasty committee chairs.

I believe, in my heart of hearts, that this strategy will blow-up in the Democrat’s respective faces. The MSM laments that President Bush doesn’t appear fretful over this election. He knows, like so many of us, that the American public is sick and tired of shenanigans, pointless posturing, illogical behaviors, untenable accusations. He knows that the heart of soul of America will stand up for what’s good and right. That most Americans are NOT swayed by sound bites and negative campaigning and idiots wearing campaign buttons and moonbats burying body parts out west.

Instapundit has a poll on the election – go take it. You won’t see that one on CBS!

The W will be in the Peach state for the next 2 days, helping out Republican candidates. I’m sure even the local stations will cover him with less respect than the man, much less the office, deserves.

UPDATE:  Gerard has an idea on how he’ll again vote Democratic one day…..

Spin, Rinse, Repeat

I swear, nothing is sacred. Michael J Fox, of whom I was a former fan, is pimping his Parkinson’s disease in a campaign ad. During the World Series! Sad. Sad. It’s the typical, “if you’re not with us, you’re against us” meme. Anchoress:

The proponents of ESC research like to say obnoxious things along the lines of “Bush is against science,” and “[Talent] doesn’t want Michael J Fox to stop moving, just like the nazis on the right didn’t want Christopher Reeve to walk again!” And they like to pretend that ESC research and funding have been – or are about to be – criminalized. The truth is and always has been that scientists are free to conduct experiments using ESC, and private investors are free to fund it. All President Bush has ever said was, “the government is not going to fund it, the government is not going to help you create more ESC lines.” Booo…Hisss….

I feel badly for Michael J Fox, and for the father of my former neighbor who worked his garden while his Parkinson’s afflicted body flailed and he paced the plantings with a scissor-like walk. I felt badly for Pope John Paul II when he could no longer control his body, and I feel badly for the Rev. Billy Graham, too. I hope with all my heart that a treatment or cure can be found to alleviate such suffering. But let’s stop pretending that to be against government funding of ESCR is to be some mustachio-curling eeeevil entity who revels in human suffering, and let’s also stop pretending that Embryonic Stem Cell Research is a hotbed of medical innovation and staggering success, when precisely the opposite is true.

My brother-in-law has Parkinson’s. He continues to pastor. He continues to plug along. He looked great the last time I saw him. His sweet spirit shines through it all. MJ probably has way better care than he will ever get. MJ needs to do more research before he opens his mouth. While he still can.

In a related sort of way, Byron Calume of the NYT now says printing the “leak” of the SWIFT program (which monitored banking transactions by terrorist suspects) was a BAD IDEA…..does this fit into the category of “I voted for the 83 million, before I voted against it…” oopsies? What’s wrong, honey? Somebody blow up your Beamer? Good Lord, this man is a piece of work! The Anchoress has no sympathy and neither do I.

…What kept me from seeing these matters more clearly earlier in what admittedly was a close call? I fear I allowed the vicious criticism of The Times by the Bush administration to trigger my instinctive affinity for the underdog and enduring faith in a free press — two traits that I warned readers about in my first column.

Vicious criticism? Oh, you mean like when President Bush said “these sorts of leaks destroy programs that are saving lives?” Oh, my…that’s vicious. It’s not like Bush called the Times a name…it’s not like Bush took a tone with the Times that came anywhere near the tone the Times editors routinely take over him or his administration. “Waaaaahhhh…I didn’t like how Bush was, so I didn’t do my job! Wahhhh.”

Clearly if you can’t do your job because you can’t put your wounded pride aside, then you shouldn’t be in that job. An ombudsman is supposed to look at a story and judge the rightness of it, without passion or prejudice. Calame has demonstrated he cannot do this, at least not in a timely manner…or above the fold. I give him credit for admitting it, but now that he has seen that he cannot detach his feelings from his work, he should resign.

Squiggler has a round up on the “Waaaaahhhh!” And of Course, the NYT doesn’t believe it worthy of the front page.

I have no patience today.

Moron. Both of them. All of them.

Her First Election

This is the first election my oldest will vote in. Her absentee ballot is on it’s way to her college mailbox. She’s taking Political Science this semester – it will be good to see how the process works. She also has a decent professor, who allows (and encourages) dissent and debate. Not one of the usual wackos. So… How do you explain to the typical self-centered teen how important their vote is? How do you explain to someone who only lives for the here and now that the vote she casts has a ripple effect for the next 4 to 6 years? It will effect the taxes she will face when she graduates and FINDS A JOB, or how her loans will be handled when she graduates and goes on for her Masters (and more loans), or how secure she will feel once she’s finally on her own, or face persecution and discrimination because her Constitutional rights have evaporated, or if she will be able to even afford the health care to pay for her meds, or if she can buy a home, or if she can practice her religion freely, or if she can even speak out against tyrany, or if she will forced to wear the burqa and (Dear Jesus help me) endure all the rest that goes with dhimmitude.

Tough choices for the young and short-sighted.

Thomas Sowell, one of America’s best, summed it up perfectly:

You may deserve whatever you get if you vote frivolously in this year’s election. But surely the next generation, which has no vote, deserves better.

Conservative Blog Therapy is keeping a running list of links from now until the Election. Check it everyday.

Atlanta is getting it’s first Trader Joe’s – minus the “Three-Buck-Chuck”. Thank YOU, Georgia Legislature. Second location to come will be in Midtown. Yummy. A new place to eat lunch.

Dirty bomb for Dirty Birds? Hope not…..DHS thinks it is a hoax, like the earlier threat during March Madness. MyPetJawa has the latest.

The Anchoress should hop a plane down…Keifer’s gonna be in the Big A this weekend. Doubt he’ll bring his kilt, tho.

The former Cobb Co. School Super Joe Redden, author of the Apple for Everybody fiasco, ditched a grand jury appearance yesterday. I remember when school used to be about learning (and recess), not laptops and paperwork.

The new Symphony Hall fundraising hits a fermata. Keep the awesome concert space, lose the “wings”. I always thought the artist’s rendering of the building looked like a Minbari battlecruiser anyway.

On Enabling, Projecting and Displacing

Just pick one.

I continue to be fascinated by human behavior. How people act and react to situations and scenarios. How one word or raised eyebrow can clear a room or start a brawl. We are all wondrously made. And everyone of us is wired differently. Some are calm under pressure, some are twitchy, some are loud and brash, some are not, some are deep thinkers, some are devout, some just smell like chocolate-chip cookies. Thus the fascination. I’m no expert nor am I the proud owner of an advanced degree in anything related to the study of these beings. Science was not my best subject. I liked words, stories, tales, history, writing, art, music. I majored in the wrong thing. <<Sigh>>

That being said, the political shenanigans of the last few weeks have been an amateur-psychoanalyst-wanna-be dream come true. Why did they do this? Why did they say? Who said what to whom? Who knew what when? Tell me about your relationship with your mother….

Many, many people have been writing about this the last few weeks….much better than I. The triumvirate of shrinks, Dr. Sanity, Siggy & Gagdad Bob have some outstanding observations –

Dr. Sanity, like myself was bored and disinterested with politics until 9/11. She has no party affiliation. She, also like me, has a consuming interest in learning as much about Islam as she can. One problem is that they live in opposite-land, when it comes to human behavior. About her blog, she says

Many of the posts on this blog deal with what I consider the essential “side-issues” of the war on terror; such as the obstructionist behavior of Democrats with regard to that war; the bias of the mainstream media; the deterioration of academic institutions and postmodern thought; the political left and the remnants of communism and socialism; and modern-day feminists (part of the political left, sadly, but destructive enough in their own right); as well as a variety of other topics as the whim moves me.

Well said! Oooohhh, but there’s more…

It is my contention that the Democrats, the MSM, the Left (including feminists, communists and socialist dead-enders) and various other assorted groups I choose to comment on do exactly that: wittingly or unwittingly, they enable, support, or facilitate terror and terrorists.

[…] However, in their current toxic iteration; and because they seem to have taken over the previously tolerable Democratic Party, I can no longer ignore them. Their unbelievable behavior over the past 5+ years has consistently provided aid and comfort to an enemy that is simply the greatest threat to civilization in my lifetime. Whether their behavior is conscious or not, I really don’t care. The results are the same.

And, if you don’t think that their enabling behavior has caused considerable death, destruction and other serious consequences to our country and our military, then you are not looking at the big picture of what is going on in the world today. If you do not understand that all their activity and bluster; all their slogans and hysteria are designed to make the United States lose this war, then you are extremely naiive. Take a look at what they are doing. They have attempted to obstruct the prosecution of this war on every front. They have deliberately and with malice aforethought managed to create the impression that our military forces are composed of brutal thugs; while at the same time they coddle the real brutal thugs we are fighting. Rather than being the “loyal” opposition, they have descended at times, I believe, to actual treasonous behavior. The Democrats, in particular, have shown repeatedly that they hate George Bush and Dick Cheney more than they love this country. The Republicans, as I have said many times are bad enough with their slippery and opportunistic behavior patterns, but the Democrats are completely despicable.

Some of my best friends are Democrats (remember I work for an institution of higher learning). Siggy takes Glenn Greenwald to task, on his (Glenn’s) complaining about a post of Dr. Sanity’s, that he (Glenn) apparently never read. Like a kid looking for a reason to have a tantrum or book reviewers who bash books they never read. But that doesn’t stop them from writing a long and scathing review in the NYT (another rant for another day). Siggy, master zinger, says

Glenn Greenwald fails to see his own projection and pathology. He feels the need to question Dr Sanity’s credentials (speaking of credentials, Glenn…) and accuses her of doing exactly what he does, day in and day out- demean those who disagree with his own worldview. He also attempts to obfuscate the distinctions made by Dr Sanity’s (and others) between classical liberals and leftists […]

He further illustrates the thought that Dr. Sanity put out –

Try as they might, the Democrats could not sway middle America with ideas that were not existent or bias that was nothing short of hate. Only a sex scandal (some would argue the scandal was choreographed and timed by some Dems) seemed to stir the electorate.

Gagdad Bob, like the Dread Pirate Roberts, comes after their souls.

Our enemies in the Muslim world are our enemies precisely because they are sick men from sick societies who wish to spread their disease to the rest of the world. But in our own world, approximately half of the population suffers from a soul pathology that prevents them from making judgments on, or even perceiving, the soul pathology of our external enemies. Thus, there are no feminist groups who have rallied behind George Bush, who has liberated more Muslim women than perhaps any other human being in history. Likewise, I know of no leftists who celebrate the achievements of the great liberator Ronald Reagan, who gave millions of victims of a satanic ideology the opportunity to become human again. For if leftists were to acknowledge these achievements, they would no longer be leftists. They would be cured.

After pondering on all these deep thoughts, I think Dr. Sanity’s definition of Displacement sums it up the best…..

Displacement

Indeed.

UPDATE: The Dems in 1884, The Dems in 2006. See any difference?

21 Days

Run for cover….Nancy Pelosi is picking out carpet and drapes with a preemptive gloat.

Speaking of Donks, the Dhimmicrats have unveiled their catchphrase for the 2008 Election. Drumroll please… Boortz says

Well, at least the Democrats are being loyal to their socialist roots. “Common good” was a catch-phrase for the communist movement for decades, now it is being officially embraced by the Democrats. No real surprise here. Democrat icon Ted Kennedy announced the war on individualism — using those very words — many years ago.

The idea of the “common good” is completely contrary to the concept of individualism. You either support and promote the idea of individuality, or you ignore the rights of the individual for the good of the whole .. for the common good.

So .. here we have the Democrats telling you just exactly who they are, and who they think you are — not an individual, just one element that makes up the masses.

These people and their socialist “common good” theme are dangerous to freedom, liberty and the very concept of the individual. If you’re looking for a reason to vote for the free-spending, big-government Republicans, the Democrats and their “common good” theme would be it.

If you need further reasoning, check out Dr. Sanity, who in her latest post addresses socialism and how the Islamofacists know EXACTLY what they are doing.

Observe how easily Islam has been able to subvert key Western values–such as freedom of speech and expression–with a degree of invincibility and outraged virtue, capitalizing on a tactical opportunity that they have never before had in history. And worse of all, many on the political left–particularly the remnants of utopian socialism– are aiding and abetting the Islamofascists.

And in the true form of aiding and abetting, 60 Minutes drops a Bush Bomb each Sunday until the election. Like they think people with a real brain that their “reporting” seriously.

Why does this even get air-time, but this NOT? Guess it’s not SEXY enough.

Following up on yesterday’s post about different rules for different folks, we see that Harry Reid practices that same old-time religion of “Do As I Say, Not As I Do’. Cap’n Ed says

Let’s get this straight. Reid’s failure to follow the Senate rules on disclosure in 2001, when he sat on the Ethics Committee, somehow got set up by the Republicans. Reid’s connection to an attorney involved in a bribery case that directly related to zoning decisions in Clark County, where they both owned property, was a Rovian plot set in motion in 1998. And now Reid’s new disclosures of property in an area where he has taken an intense legislative interest somehow relates to Republicans, when no one even mentioned the parcels in question — because Reid failed to disclose them during his entire time as Senate Minority Leader, while he has castigated Republicans for alleged ethical lapses.

The only reason he’s coming clean is because the AP caught him breaking the rules earlier…

It’s all an evil plot by the Republicans……riiiiiight….

Harry Reid’s distant relatives, those Lyin’ Frenchmen, are at it again. Patton once said “I’d rather have a German division in front of me than a French division behind me…”. We should boycott the French as well as Indonesia. They all want us dead. Like these precious angels.

Jason Pappas at LibertyAndCulture sees what is happening (or NOT happening) in the world right now. (h/t Infidel Bloggers Alliance)

The decent into savagery, barring any sudden apocalyptic event, is evolutionary – representing a character/culture transformation on the order of a generation. In the last 20 years we’ve seen this occur in the West Bank, especially Gaza. A regime of terror purged the area of moderates willing to openly discuss the paths to civility: living in peace with one’s neighbors. The installation of Arafat has turned PA controlled areas into terror machines indoctrinating a whole generation with the glory of becoming human bombs. The revival of the original practice of Islam solidified this savage mindset creating a level of barbarity not seen in generations.

What kind of person kills their daughter for bringing “disgrace” to the family? What kind of person looks at their children and sees human bombs waiting to be deployed in the slaughter of peaceful members of civilization going about their daily lives? What kind of people cheer at the pictures of office workers slaughtered by planes flown into modern buildings. Or hide their women in black blankets in 120 degree heat? Or dream of death and the glory of killing for Allah? Or kill over a cartoon?

Read the whole thing. And start praying, if you haven’t already….
